While it was stated move would occur “if a stadium deal couldn’t be reached in Columbus,” owner Anthony Precourt has already conducted negotiations with Austin officials, surveyed the market, trademarked names (Austin FC & Austin Athletic), hired PR firms locally and begun a social media campaign aimed at the Austin market (mls2atx.com). Precourt choses to pursue new MLS soccer stadium at McKalla Place site.
