It looks like the residential portion above the podium is halfway done, so this is maybe 2/3 of the way to max height? It's got a lot of presence heading down I-10 now.

Good news (hopefully)... there were quite a few guys working on the office component today, or at least doing something on top of the one floor that has been constructed. I'm wondering if maybe they pushed it back to utilize one of the cranes from the residential component and that way delay completion of the office part a bit until there is more demand? We'll see.

Houston-based MetroNational's plans to build a nine-story office tower in Memorial City are on hold as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

 

But company President Jason Johnson said there are reasons to remain optimistic about the prospects for new office buildings in Houston — at least in certain parts of the city.

Johnson told the Houston Business Journal that Memorial City in west Houston is ideally positioned to bounce back on the office front, once the pandemic recedes.

 

And he's prepared to put his money where his mouth is.

 

Johnson expects MetroNational’s planned nine-story office tower at 9753 Katy Freeway to move ahead once the building environment returns to a less volatile state. Construction crews broke ground on the project earlier this year, only to put it on hold once Covid-19 hit.

 

“Regarding the office component, we’re taking a pause on that one so we can see what the office environment looks like in the coming months,” Johnson said. “We made that decision because we all agreed that to come out of the ground with a project costing millions at a time when we don’t know what the environment is going to look like was not a prudent decision.”

Yeah I was just going to post how it looks like they'd stopped again, I guess that week when there were a bunch of guys working on the office component they were just tidying up the site or something. Oh well.

Not sure what's going on, but after rising pretty quickly this seems to have slowed wayyyyy down. They are definitely still working, but I haven't seen any appreciable progress in weeks/months. You would think they would start putting some windows in the tower by now, but nope.

The other tower crane came down today, but there continues to be minimal apparent progress despite continued work. Still lacking most windows except for the lowest floors of the tower.

Back in town and took this shot when I was filling up at the HEB across the freeway. The penthouse floors and maybe the one below it can be seen through still, from what I recall. It does make a mark and obscures much of the Memorial Hermann Tower for some distance from the east, for those who care about that impact.
