Marc Leslie Kagan
Slowly but surely Weingarten is destroying The River Oaks Shopping Center. They just could not leave the buildings alone. I worked there in the early to mid 1980s and the shopping center was a new oasis of buildings with a nice deco feel to them. The other day drove by and I could have been anywhere U.S.A. there is no sense "Of Place" almost half of their original buildings are pretty much demolished. Shame on them. Houston is not a good care taker of its historical buildings. Other cities have much better Preservation laws. When you look at Houston what do you see? I see absolutely nothing its all banal its like the city is done in shades of BEIGE. I'm surprised that the Astrodome is still standing. I'm quite shocked that it hasn't gone by the wayside. Subdude
The beige paint was a sure sign of what was to come. At this point the architectural integrity is gone, just as Weingarten has long intended.
Ross
You can show your displeasure by refusing to shop there, and by letting the stores know why. But, it shouldn't be our decision to tell a store owner what their property ought to look like.
