The recommendations were suggested and approved in response to Senate Bill 11—the campus carry law that was passed in 2015—which relates to the carrying of handguns on college campuses. Senate Bill 11 goes into effect for community colleges Aug. 1. Under SB 11, concealed carry is allowed on Texas public college campuses. Open carry is still prohibited.
