HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy) – A 19-year-old Houston woman is charged for her alleged role in forcing a teenager into sexual slavery, according to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

The alleged plot was revealed Friday, as Denise Coronado was charged with compelling prostitution, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in state prison.

According to evidence presented during a probable cause hearing, a 14-year-old girl told authorities that she was walking down a street when she was pulled into a van.

She said she was then driven to a spot in the woods, where she was kept against her will for five days.

She was then taken to a Houston motel, where she was introduced to Coronado. She was threatened, burned with a cigarette, and made to engage in prostitution.

The runaway was photographed by Coronado for an advertisement published on the website Backpage.com.

During a one week period in March, the girl was forced to have sex with more than two dozen men. She later escaped.

The case is continuing to be investigated by the Houston Police Vice Division’s Human Trafficking Unit. Coronado is expected in the 176th District Court Monday for arraignment. Within the past two years, Coronado has also been charged with assault with bodily injury, assault of a family member and possession of marijuana.
