The new Training ship will be an incredible asset to the Texas Maritime Academy and for the whole Gulf Coast.   The Maritime Administration (who owns the training vessels) has struggled to find and place a suitable, reliable, training vessel, after the original TS TEXAS CLIPPER was retired.  It can be said, that even she was not very reliable...if not obsolete.   But, she was a beautiful ship.  I spent three summers on her and countless hours maintaining her, traveling as far as Greece on our training cruises.

I have an interest in Texas A&M Galveston because my nephew and his now wife both graduated from there and started dating while there.

He he is now working for Lindblad/National Geographic Luxury Cruise Line. He started working for them after being laid off from Transocean Drilling when the bottom fell out of the oil market during covid. His ship does cruises in Seattle, Vancouver and Alaska during the summer and transitions to Baja Mexico and Costa Rica during our winter season.

There will be a deviation from the masterplan. The NSMV, the TS Lone Star State will be moored at a new dock on the other side of the boat basin:

The new engineering building (I believe starting construction next year), will be located a bit closer to the current engineering buildings (and have a bit bigger footprint) than identified on the master plan:

Engineering Classroom and Research Building (ECRB). This will frame a nice new quad for campus. The site where it's going is a bit oversized for campus. It will be 51,000 sf and will break ground in the Spring. The terrace will be a fantastic touch and is reminiscent of the Zachry Engineering Education Complex in College Station. Makes sense as both buildings serve a similar purpose, but on two different campuses.

Additional site plans and information on the first phase of infrastructure for the new dock. This will support the new training ship, the Lone Star State.

Upper Texas Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital and Educational Outreach Center. This is in the fundraising process and has no formal start date yet. It will be located on the west side of Seawolf Parkway.

The salt marsh mosquitoes are considerably less aggressive in College Station

A site plan, a floorpan, and a render of the Engineering Classroom and Research Building (ECRB). This will really help better define the spaces on that part of campus.
