Blue Dogs
Yesterday, Austin PD Chief Art Acevedo accepted the position of Police Chief for the Houston Police Department after Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner named him as the Space City's top cop. He comes to Houston with plenty of accomplishments from his previous tenure in Austin. http://abc13.com/news/acevedo-appears-to-be-houstons-top-cop-pick/1611754/ http://kxan.com/2016/11/17/art-acevedo-accepts-new-job-as-houston-police-chief/ https://www.texastribune.org/2016/11/17/austin-police-chief-expected-to-become-houstons-polic/ How do y'all like Mayor Turner's choice of Acevedo to lead the Houston Police Department ? A.) Love It B.) Hate It C.) Wait & See how he does as HPD Chief
mkultra25
I think this was a very good hire on the Mayor's part. I have friends in Austin that are upset that he's leaving, as he is very well-respected there. I'd expect to see some changes in both the city and county law enforcement landscapes given that we now have a new DA, Sheriff, and Chief of Police. Ross
Acevedo is anti-civil rights, so I hope he doesn't last long.
