sabasushi
Hiya, I know there has been many postings about Lucky Burger here, but I don't seem to be able to find an answer to my question: did that building (which I know is gone now) have that iconic huge barrel on the top when it opened in 1970's? SpaceGhost
Indeed it did, it originally opened as an A&W Root Beer stand and would have looked something like this. The dining room was added and some of the bottom of the barrel was removed, but you could see where the original walk up windows were. So to answer your question yes the barrel was original, and everything else was an addon.
IronTiger
I was under the impression that Lucky Burger wouldn't be completely be razed. Shame about the building...it definitely looked unique, and the barrel could've been repainted/rethemed (after LB's demise, it was defaced with graffiti that read "POSER GRITS".) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Libbie
I remember when it was being built! I found an old Poloroid photo of it that my dad had taken. It would have been fun to post it, but I gave it to the Chinese gentleman who owned it, a few years before it closed.
