Hurrican Katrina And Global Warming?

Many in the international media seem to think that Katrina was a result of global warming.

That seems to be an un-informed assumption. While I dont discredit the fact that there is global warming it seems the media is quickly attributing the hurricane to that and that alone? Someone needs to explain to these folks from Europe and abroad that we have been having hurricanes in the States since our founding as a country - and hurricanes have been occuring for presumably millions of years. Granted perhaps we are having a more active hurricane season than usual but perhaps every one-hundred years the climate is just right to produce these massive storms.

Im not sure but thought that some of the comments from Global media on the BBC are rather poor - and seem quick to blame Bush as the culprit since he didnt indorse the Kyoto Protical - I venture to guess that the hurricane would have happend whether or not global warming is the issue?
