Two months ago, I met two chefs from India while eating with my son at Shake Shack and they told me they were in town to take in the local dining scene in preparation for opening a fine dining Indian restaurant called The Spice Market (no relation to the Jean Georges Vongerichten restaurant in Meat Packing District tin NYC) that was opening near Nobu and Fig & Olive. I was surprised that Galleria marketing has not announced. If the deal wasn't signed- why would they fly the chefs over to tour Houston food scene??? They had been to the new Kiran etc... They said the company has other restaurants in India but I believe the ownership was from Nigeria.

Sleek! I like it @monarch. Here's the rest of the article from Houstonia

The Galleria’s Revamped Saks Wing Is Now Open

This weekend marked the official debut of Galleria VI, with 110,000 square feet of retail and 35 new retail and restaurant concepts planned. Some are still to come—notably dining options like Nobu, Fig & Olive and Spice Route—but shoppers can currently check out the first wave of openings, including Ted Baker, Sam Edelman, Lacoste, St. John, Cole Haan, Tumi, Coach, True Religion, AG Adriano Goldschmied and kate spade new york. At least five more shops are scheduled to open soon.

Are there renderings online for Nobu Houston? And when does everyone think Simon will announce details of the hotel and residential this year?

From Eater:

Arizona-based chain Blanco Tacos & Tequila is planning to make its way to Houston in the coming months.

The Mexican eatery’s Houston debut was a rumor last year, but now site plans posted to hawk-eyed real estate forum HAIF confirm its arrival. Blanco Tacos & Tequila will occupy a prime spot right across from where Mediterranean eatery Fig & Olive and much-lauded sushi spot are set to open, according to. The chain has not officially announced its expansion into Houston, but job postings to its parent company’s Glassdoor page confirm the restaurant’s impending arrival.

The chain has not announced many details on its forthcoming Galleria outpost, but look forward to fajitas, quesadillas, enchiladas, and of course, tacos on the menu. The restaurant will offer seating on an expansive patio, perfect for sipping one of Blanco’s margaritas, micheladas, or sangrias. Blanco Tacos & Tequila is operated by Fox Restaurant Concepts, the minds behind Drake-approved pasta spot North Italia and healthy eatery Flower Child, which is expected to open its doors in Uptown Park in the coming months.

A regurgitation of the article above on The Spice Route Company or Spice Route. It's under construction in the former Saks wing at Galleria III in The Galleria in Houston.

The Spice Route Co. restaurant at the Galleria has been renamed to Mussafer. It's opening in the fall.

From Eater Houston:

Musaafer, a restaurant dedicated to the regional cuisines of India, will open later this year at the Galleria.

The latest addition to the Galleria’s growing line-up of restaurants will occupy a sprawling 10,000 square feet of space in the Galleria’s VI Wing, just across from where Nobu is set to open this summer.

Designed by Chromed Design Studio, the restaurant will offer seating on a large outdoor terrace, a bar and lounge, and both “casual and fine dining spaces,” according to a press release.

Musaafer is set to make its Galleria debut sometime in late fall.
