Sic'EmBears
GFF has comprised a master plan for The Canyon, a 211-acre mixed-use development. Sitework and construction on hotels and apartments have been underway. View map here. GFF Planning and Paul Shaw, AICP were hired by the INCAP Fund/Stratford Land Fund III partnership to create the master plan for a 211-acre land assembly at Westmoreland and Interstate 30, just three miles west of Downtown Dallas. The goal was to create a sustainable, mixed use, urban village on the site using best practice planning and landscape design principles with an emphasis on environmental conservation and restoration. The resulting plan is a walkable urban community incorporating a generous mix of open space and public infrastructure within a New Urbanist block structure designed to create maximum value for the diverse future development sites. A central water feature aligns with an existing stream that bisects the site and serves as the primary orienting device for the individual tracts. Conceptual future building pads are positioned to be responsive to existing topographic conditions on the site and maximum views, with the potential to house as many as 7,500 dwelling units, 1,000 hotel rooms, 1.5M square feet of office and 1M SF of retail. Sic'EmBears
Damn that's huge. How far along is this? The main thoroughfare connecting Colorado Blvd to I-30's service road is under construction, as well as a small branch connecting the main thoroughfare to Westmoreland. Taylors Farm, a 160-unit apartment community, has been built. Refer to 23. Hillside West, a 130-unit senior living community, has also been built. Refer to 24. Two months ago, a four-story Marriott Residence Inn was announced. Due to rain delays, construction won't start until the roadways are finished. Btw, this may just be a mobile issue, but I can't open any of the links you post about 90% of the time. Anyone else have this issue on the desktop version? Could just be a mobile issue. TxDave
Nice to see a plan & hope it comes to fruition. While the overall parcel is somewhat smaller than what's happening further north, the impact in this part of town will be significant
IronTiger
Looks like a power center on the Interstate frontage, probably supermarket anchored.
