I wish I had Revit. I dont know what I would do with it but it'd be nice for something, Im sure. That is just a snipit from a pdf that I got from an acquaintance of an acquaintance's cousin's sister's friend.

Don't know why I never saw this before. Guess this project really is going slow.

If you are interested in learning how to model buildings then I would recommend Sketchup over Revit. Revit is great for when you have to work on Construction Documents and figuring out how a building will come together, but weak when it comes to design. Sketchup is very straightforward and easy to use, and many offices use it as a design tool when starting out with designs. You can always download the "Make" version for free.

Blossom Hotel Medical Center hopes to serve as a medical bridge between China and the United States.  In response to a growing need of Chinese citizens seeking specialized medical treatment in the U.S., the hotel will help facilitate requests such as language translation, appointment scheduling, and travel and transportation assistance, manager Ken Yeh said. This is the brand's first U.S.-based hotel. It has eight locations in Hangzhou, China. Situated at 7118 Bertner Ave., the 276-unit hotel features single- and double-occupancy rooms. On-site amenities include a gym, an office, a conference room, an outdoor pool and a garden. The 16-story hotel is slated to open in the summer of 2020.  Grand View Construction is the general contractor, and Zhejiang Blossom Tourism Group LLC is the investor.

I have been with this project since early 2015, it's actually 13 stories. The 1st to 3rd level(each 26ft in height) are added with mezzanine level respectively. A rooftop swimming pool is planned right next to a fitness center.

I was thinking the tower crane was going to run out of head room if it was going to 16 stories and the crane doesn't have a climber on it, so 13 makes sense.

Are they actually going to call it the 13th floor? I know superstitious folks think if  the 13th floor is labeled the 14th floor that magically takes care of the problem. As Spock says "that is highly illogical Captain".

Do the Chinese consider 13 unlucky though? Could be just an American superstition. Just asking cause I seriously don't know.

I have driven past this site every morning going north on Bertner from O.S.T., for the past three years. The building has significantly changed the feel and the scale of this side of the bayou.

It also gives the existing boat shaped M.D. Anderson building some company and something to play off of.

It's close to being in my sightline when I'm sitting at my desk.

13 is actually fine with Chinese culture, however, anything ending with 4 is not. So during early stage planning, we have argument that if 13 has to be avoided, then 4 and 14 have to be avoided as well, which will create too many holes in a tiny piece of cheese. Therefore we stayed with 13 but claimed this is a 16 story building (which technically, partially correct).

Talked with a worker rigging for the tower crane, he said it was 16 story building. If you count the floors for the southern portion it's 13 but the northern section is currently 15. I think the difference is the giant lobby sections that have very high ceilings.
