hindesky
The workmanship on this is horrible. They also tore up all the roads north of Phase II, hopefully they will made to repair them. Students were moving into Phase I.
zaphod
The siding in the first picture looks like it is bulging and uneven, is that normal?
rechlin
It's like they weren't even trying to make the EIFS smooth. Wow. I've seen a lot of bad jobs on that around town but nothing quite that bad.
thatguysly
That is really bad. They will have to repair that sooner than normal.
cspwal
Also they've had a lane of Scott St blocked for months, and they've started blocking the other lane whenever its the easiest way to unload something
texas911
Another cheaply constructed stick building. This is student housing, it should be built like a prison!

Stew
There are 3 courtyards in the new section.  Usually courtyards are totally enclosed with the building so it will be interesting to see if they really will install an iron fence or a high wall especially in this neighborhood.  Pool Doggie playground Edited August 31, 2020 by Stew

X.R.
Are those mockups made out of legos, reminds me of Zoolander.  The pool area is exposed on one side? What are they doing, lol.

hindesky
Looks like someone missed the marks on the wall. The street on the north side of this is a mud fest, there are homes on this street and they have to deal with this daily.

KinkaidAlum
I received a UH newsletter in the mail and saw this was voted by student's as the best on campus (but off) housing option. It's the ugliest and by far the cheapest looking but it's on the rail (downtown/midtown bars), has a pool, a game room, and even a lounge they let the Greeks use.
hindesky
They have somewhat cleaned up the street north of this but it still needs some of work. Â

hindesky
The street north of this project is closed off, I hope it's for complete replacement as they have torn this street up so badly that it's a complete mud hole, kind of surprised the houses along the street haven't raised holy hell about it. If it was in any other neighborhood the contractor would be in jail for tearing up the roads as badly as they have.

If developers like this get in trouble in areas where people do fight them, do they get in trouble with the local representatives and such? For example, would it make it harder for this dude to develop in the city again? The flippant way that he was like "yeah, I'll do that" when the person told him about blocking the street, the stop sign, the messed up lot, and the road issues is ridiculous.
Stew
It appears that Bank of America will open a branch bank in the retail space on the first level of The Icon. I assume the garage will be used for customer parking. Also a new Frost bank recently opened a few blocks south on Scott. https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/TABS/Projects/TABS2021005861  Edited January 5, 2021 by Stew
