Looks like part of these apartments will be flanked by Leeland and Bell. Hopefully this means that this is the start of developing all those empty lots on Leeland. I believe the one further east is for sale by the catholic church. The empty part of the lot in which Brother's Taco's sits on is owned by a Best Western franchisor. I was told they don't have any immediate plans to develop, but maybe this will catalyze things. I don't think a hotel makes sense for that lot. What would y'all recommend go there?

They chopped down all of the trees around the property. There were a few relatively mature trees on both the Polk and Emancipation sides of the property. Since they aren’t currently doing work in the areas where the trees were taken out, it’s unclear why it was done.

I wonder if they got permits. If not, the city needs to fine the crap out of them. I don't care how good the project is, developers need to stop taking out mature street trees.

For sure. They set the shadification (is that a word?) of those sidewalks back at least 20 years.

Total Wine or a CVS/Walgreens - it's surprisingly far to get to a pharmacy in EaDo.

is it though?

ignoring the CVS on Main Street in downtown, which is about 1 mile from most places in east downtown.

Lockwood/Harrisburg is 1.7 miles from McKinney/Emancipation.

sure you can't walk across the street and have your pharmacy, but that's probably closer than most people are to their pharmacy.

East downtown is supposed be a downtown neighborhood, but the East side is still really lacking in pharmacies.  If you look at this map, each ring is a 1/2 mile radius from a pharmacy (CVS, Walgreens, Kroger Pharmacy, HEB pharmacy, Randalls pharmacy).

Anyone else take an almost person offence to the fact that the Lockwood/Harrisburg CVS uses three different fonts and colors in their branding as "CVS y mas?"

Yes but their fridges being broken a few weeks ago and still housing liquids still in them was more offensive.

Seriously?  They could have at least curved the sidewalk around it, like you see some places

Could this be a temporary pole that will be pulled when they install underground service to the building?  That might also be why they haven't poured the concrete where the pole is or where the guy wires terminate.

The wires terminate at the pole in the future sidewalk but will continue to the second pole and then to the building, but those aren't hooked up yet.

This may have been mentioned previously and I couldn't find it, but have they announced the tenants?

Nothing in stone. I believe the closest to confirmation is a potential CVS on site.

Sprouts will not be in this location.

One would think that with new construction project they could actually plan to NOT have the electrical pole and its support cables right in the middle of the sidewalk  This is just so stupid on whoever makes these kind of decisions.

This is one circumstance where regulation actually makes sense, right? Even though the company's that feed electricity are private everyone uses the same wires. Its very cost prohibitive at the moment to motivate companies to move anything or bury anything. This is a situation where design standards and regulation can actually help. Utility companies are notoriously difficult to work with, and at this point place their poles wherever they feel like.

Poles look pretty fresh. Now its possible this is just a coordination error, but once one is placed its really difficult to get these companies to move their poles.
