Chancellor of the Texas A&M System John Sharp starts talking about some plans for this property in minute 21 of the linked video. Specifically, he mentions 750 units of high-rise student housing. Also of note is he suggested Baylor CoM is dropping out of TMC3.

That building looks gorgeous! Fantastic job.

I agree. A pretty solid upgrade, and at the same time I like how they kept balconies. Gives a subtle reminder of what was.

It is unfortunate they are removing the railings from the balconies.  Usable balconies would have been a great amenity for workers there.

Umm. There are railings, with doors that go out to the balconies.

^^^ "unfortunate"?  not in the least.  this particular edifice was probably constructed during an era, whereby, smoking was all the rage.  well, let us fast-forward to 2020.  aTm HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER, is probably going to be a non-smoking facility.  therefore, those SMOKER'S RAILINGS are no-longer necessary.

People can actually step outdoors for a few minutes and enjoy it without smoking.

Part of the deal is A&M sells its 2121 W Holcombe land to Medistar for $51m?  That would be best case scenario to have Medistar completely redevelop that plot of land across Main Street.  Main and Holcombe will be quite the intersection in 5+ years.

And if the gateway station would ever get off the ground too.

It shares the same block as the A&M development. I wonder if the A&M development will be a tipping point for the transit center .

Some people might step outside for fresh air, not just smoke. But I guess there will still be usable balconies per Luminare.

The medical office building looks a little value-engineered here compared to ekdrm's rendering and the one in the Chron article. Still a nice building. Breaks ground in Fall 2021 per the article, so a long way off.

From the picture : the lower left hand corner is the remodeled former bank building, the one facing Fannin street will be built where there is a parking garage  which will either be torn down or incorporated? into the design, and lastly the tallest building on Main will be built where currently stands a one or two story building. Amazing project. Not an Aggie , but nevertheless Way to Go!

As a smoker myself I'll glady walk out to both get some fresh air, along with breathing in my Camels' smoke. Monarch can just watch, or try to stop me.
