Three vintage modern style houses from the 1960's and 1970's are featured. They are located about five and ten miles southwest of downtown Houston. All are in need of new preservation-minded owners. Thanks to Houston MODern Market for sponsoring this FREE event. 4919 Heatherglen Drive, Meyerland, Houston, Texas 77096 Alan Finger commissioned architect Arthur Steinberg to design this house for his young family in 1959. By 1961 it was complete and the family moved in as Hurricane Carla approached. In 1974, Finger had architect David Foster enlarge the house by adding more living area and a new master bedroom suite. Today that configuration remains providing high ceilings and abundant glass walls viewing the back terrace and swimming pool. HAR Link 5123 S. Braeswood Boulevard, Meyerland, Houston, Texas 77096 Al Fairfield custom designed and built this spacious one owner modern house in 1964, situated on a large lot on South Braeswood Boulevard. Fairfield was a life-long friend of architect William Floyd and built many houses in the Memorial area of Houston including residences for Floyd and two for architect Bill Caudill. The house has impressive living areas overlooking a large swimming pool and patios. HAR Link 3006 Suffolk Drive, Lynn Park, Houston, Texas 77027 This flat-roofed modern house, built in 1970, is being marketed for lot value only however the design seems to indicate it may be worthy of considering for restoration. The photos show a handsome interior consisting of terrazzo floors and brick interior walls. It also has a swimming pool and convenient close-in location.
