Triton
No digging equipment. Everything appears to be for creating a level surface.Doesn't matter. You're still doing the Lord's work. Avossos
Doesn't matter. You're still doing the Lord's work. Thanks for the photos!Let's see what happens. If they lay new asphalt and upgrade the parking, it's a bad sign
Urbannizer
Seems to be site prep for the anticipated groundbreaking event in December.

UtterlyUrban
Seems to be site prep for the anticipated groundbreaking event in December. There is little that you are wrong about. I hope that you are correct. Seems an expensive extravagance to spend money to "harden and level" a lot to host for a 30 minute event before digging it up. But, I really hope you are correct. Avossos
Things can be added to those machines that actually poke holes in the ground. Let's just wait and see! Hopefully it happens!! Twinsanity02
I am not saying the company head is, but if he is like Caligula, no expense is too trivial if they are present for the groundbreaking . Better safe than sorry.
Triton
It clearly looks like they are about to pave new asphalt. Edit: This development isnt a full lot or is it? Perhaps they will have a paved area for their equipment. Twinsanity02
The high rise apartment and garage is suppose to go up on the west side of the lot whereas the east side is to be a surface parking lot unless the flipped the sides ( which I do not know if that is possible). Has anyone asked them what is afoot?
Avossos
Could they pave one side to use for their offices and construction stuff?
cspwal
If they're anything like Skyhouse, they would leave the current pavement on the ground, and not repave until the end of the project

Twinsanity02
Anyone know what is happening on this block? It appears they have paved 1/3rd of the western part of the block. I know they plan on having part of the block as a surface lot and the remainder as a 24 story apartment. I was under the impression that groundbreaking is scheduled in the next few weeks. Is this still on?

Is this still on? We've been speculating, but we know nothing. It looked paved when I drove by this morning, but I couldn't tell how much, it was still dark. Some of the equipment was still out there though. Here's the rendering again. I'm trying to mentally align it our pictures. The footprint of the building looks to be in the prepped area along Jackson. Edited November 17, 2015 by Nate99
Avossos
Did they only pave the side that is to remain a surface parking lot? If they did, that could be good news!

Nominally western is the Jackson St. side. That's where the building is sitting in the rendering.
bobruss
I just got off the phone with one of Marquette's executives, and he said they are going to sit on block 114 and wait to see what happens. He did say that they do plan to build the other project at some point.
Purdueenginerd
I'm not too hot on that rendering. It looks cheap to me. Still though, more density will be good for the area /opinion

Triton
There is an open rectangle there? Could the tower actually sit there instead or am I just in denial that this project is dead for a while?
Twinsanity02
Bobruss says he talked to one of their execs, and they were halting the project for the time being, but planned on building "the other project" whatever that means. The adjacent lot is suppose to have a 7 story apartment built by an entirely different company, so I do not know what the exec meant by the "other project" unless he is referring to the Catalyst which is already under construction.

Guess I'm just waiting on another source to corroborate what Bobruss said.
bobruss
I spoke with Darren Sloniger in charge of development from Marquette. I pulled up their website and looked under development and his picture was there so I asked to speak with him. He was very nice and took the time to talk with me about this project. He said that they were going to put this on hold and hoped to develop this at a later date. I repeat this project is on hold so no amount of hoping or speculation will move this to a construct status until later notice. From the horses mouth. Twinsanity02
Triton I hope, I hope you are correct. Just joking, but maybe the exec is just tempermental and was having a bad day when Bobruss spoke with him and will lighten up later. Stranger things happen.
