Nonprofit operator Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC) manages The Buckingham, which is located on a 23-acre plot in the affluent Memorial/Tanglewood neighborhoods of Houston. The community currently comprises 204 independent living apartments, 43 assisted living units, 16 memory support units, and a health center with 60 nursing beds. The bonds will be used to expand The Buckingham to include a new tower featuring 106 additional independent living units, 27 additional assisted living units, 18 additional memory care units, 32 additional skilled nursing beds, an underground parking garage with 111 total spaces and an additional 292 surface level spaces. Or a full-size replica of the Buckingham fountain in Chicago in front of this building. The project will add 183 units and space for 200 more residents to the campus, known as The Buckingham, on a recently acquired six-acre plot of land. (SQLC) has opened a 183-unit expansion at The Buckingham, a continuing care retirement community in Houston. The $72 million project added six acres and 183 units to the community. The expansion includes a health services building that features more than 80 units of assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing, along with a three therapy rooms. The other portion of the project is The Tower, an 11-story building offering nearly 100 units of independent living. The expansion also introduces a variety of new features and technologies to the community, like an advanced nurse call station and post-discharge management for residents who complete rehabilitation.
