UtterlyUrban
I like the look of that interior. Laura Petrie would love it. Perfect building for it too.

UtterlyUrban
I am surprised at the brick I see. I would have thought that this building was all concrete and steel.
Nate99
no more turquoise?
Avossos
this must be just a varnish or something... without the turquoise this building is a dud. This would really bum me out... Maybe it is a primer? My sources said they were supposed to paint some but leave the turquoise... Edited June 22, 2017 by Avossos
cspwal
If there's no turquoise, than this building is just a generic concrete high rise
Nate99
Could very well be a primer. The original tile/marble/whatever was very weathered looking.
rechlin
The original tiles were in really bad shape, such that I'd be surprised if they were able to repair them in place. Perhaps they were removed from the upper floors so they can be restored? I didn't get close enough to it today to be sure, but I did notice they finally took down the construction elevator. Popular Post lockmat
Just spoke with a construction employee. He said they gray is for the mortar joints, but that it would be restored to the original green color--flat, no gloss. He said they tried cleaning a few but they were in worse shape than they thought and he also confirmed many were crooked, which I'm guessing will be corrected in this process. Said they'd be done very soon--guess that's relative from a construction employees point of view though.
UtterlyUrban
How does one paint tile and expect it to stick in an exterior application?
Popular Post rechlin
It looks like it's just a multi-step process. First they paint them gray, then they paint them green, and then they bring back the gaps in between: Already looking better on the other side:

You can see the shadow of the overhang nearly directly below the overhang itself, the sun was close to directly overhead.
Avossos
For anyone interested. The San Jacinto side was lit up with LED lights across the turqoise. It made for an extremely modern and sleek look. I am not sure if they were just testing, but it looked AWESOME. For those of you who doubted this project, see it with the lighting. If you STILL don't like it, there is nothing else left to change your mind. I think alot of people will like it / appreciate it when they see it completed, and the lighting effect ON.

UtterlyUrban
Those images really highlight the imperfections in the horizontal tile grout lines (dark line running horizontally in middle of several fields). Hopefully they will be fixing that.

cloud713
Whoa! The building looks amazing with that lighting. I presume they will do the same in the southern facing recesses? And yeah, hopefully black out curtains suffice/they don't get too many complaints from guests. The original renderings showed a vertical Le Meridien sign on the southeastern corner.. are there any signs of that?
