DJ2025
I noticed a lot of the freeways are being re-striped with black and white striping.....what is the reasoning for that?
CDeb
It's a safety thing.Ever driven on a concrete freeway in the rain at night? Those white lines are really hard to see with the reflection of lights on the water. In that case, the black line sticks out more, especially in contrast with the white line immediately before it (or which it surrounds, in some states). ssullivan
White lines on concrete pavement can also be very hard to see in some bright sunny conditions. The southbound Eastex Freeway falls victim to this at certain times in the late afternoon, where the lines can almost completely disappear. The new black/white lines solve this problem
