Right? but I think it says a lot about Crane that he’s willing to spend for even the slightest improvements. He’s added to the stadium every year he’s been an owner and I love it!

That looks tacky. 2
nate4l1f3
They could have at least matched the font they used for the MMP sign. My hope is maybe they have plans to add something there next off-season or in the future. Maybe that’s the plan seeing how they went minimalist in the area where the trees once were.
monarch
^^^ why on earth, would they construct a brand new TEAM STORE waaaaaaaaaaaay in the BACK of the complex? shouldn't it be at the FRONT of the complex for all to see and patronize it? cspwal
The Astros middle management arrives in cars parked north of Minute Maid, so is is really the gateway to the ballpark /\ my only reasoning to explain not investing on the Texas/Crawford façade

I've often seen fans gathering by that entrance with their kids so they can get autographs from the players. Some players actually stop, especially if they see kids asking. hindesky
I hope they add some of the Astros colors to the sign, that white sign is sorely lacking character. The area around the trees looks like some ground up rubber. Discovery Green uses something like this around the perimeter of their park between the sidewalk and the curb.
steve1363
I think Sacred Heart’s new surface parking lot will outdo the landscaping the Astros did. I’m very disappointed with the effort here. Not very Jim Crane-like IMO.

That’s actually a popular location for fans…home run alley…the home run pump…etc. If I remember correctly the Rangers also had a big team store in the outfield section of the old ballpark. The Astros have more than one team store in the stadium. Will they keep the current location open?

hindesky
Just saw a segment during the Astros pregame program with Astros pitcher Lance McCullers about the Maven Coffee Shop at Minute Maid Park. He will also have one at Toyota Center, Thompson Hotel at the Allen and one at Sawyer yards. Side note that I didn't know but he is of Cuban heritage and has always loved coffee. https://www.instagram.com/mavenhouston/?hl=en https://mavencoffeecompany.com/locations/minute-maid-park/ https://mavencoffeecompany.com/locations/

Maybe it’s related to a redo of this CF/batters eye area in the offseason and the paint is a temporary band-aid fix for now. They could do a batter’s eye restaurant space with seating behind dark tinted glass, as seen in other ballparks. We know MSA’s body of work already, including the prior CF renovation. Bar space underneath which would provide a great vantage point, especially when the roof is open. Throw in a Karbach Brewery and some rocking chairs …errr ok maybe not haha Edited September 19 by tigereye 1

Amlaham
I'm just waiting on any news about the promised "Astros village" :) Tampa, Las Vegas, and Kansas City are all getting a new baseball park + mix-use developments.
