I didn’t know. The overview map you posted confirmed it as such.    Seems to be the other way around Crockpot. You're the one who’s insolent towards others, specifically when someone posts s

The eastern most building's lower portion is a parking garage. The south part of the next building is also. I would like to see a little more protection for those poles supporting the roof

Rakkan Ramen, a Japanese chain known for its vegetable-based broths, will open its doors in Houston next year.

Permits filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation indicate that Rakkan will occupy a 1,681 square foot space at 600 North Shepherd Drive, Suite 515, and construction is set to begin early next year. It’s possibly the first of multiple Rakkan Ramen outposts in the works — last year, the chain announced via its website that it would open as many as five locations in Houston.

Rakkan Ramen made its debut in the U.S. market in Los Angeles in 2017, when it opened an outpost in the city’s Little Tokyo neighborhood. Outposts in Redondo Beach and Santa Monica followed. According to Eater LA, the shop is known for its flavorful “umami” vegetarian broths, with options like soy sauce, miso, and tomato on the menu. There’s also the pearl ramen, served with a broth that’s made with “specialized Japanese rock salt” and white soy sauce.

Construction on Rakkan’s first Houston location is set to be completed in March 2021. Stay tuned for more details on the chain’s opening date and additional locations.

A bunch of retail buildout permits issued this last week including a 4,000 sq ft restaurant.

Any idea of any of these are Sweetgreen? Have a friend in the Heights who is going crazy waiting for it to open.

I emailed the leasing agent to ask if Sweetgreen was still coming since they aren't listed on the website and nothing seems to be happening still, and she did still confirm.

  • Highrise Tower changed the title to M•K•T, The Standard In The Heights

Biked past the MKT last weekend, loved the connectivity with the Heights Trail. There was some event going on there, looks like a fantastic place to hang out.

I expect this place to get tons of traffic from cyclists. This is why we need more developments that aren’t solely car focused. I wonder how many businesses in this city lose possible income because they don’t provide other modes of accessibility like walking and biking.

I would poke fun at "Omaha based sushi restaurant" had I never been to Omaha.  But there is a very nice little restaurant scene in Omaha.

Anyway, MKT is adding a sushi restaurant.  Now, no one can complain about not having sushi in the Heights.

Anybody looked at the location tab of their website?: https://www.themkt.com/location

Has a 360 degree interactive panorama of the development and the areas around it. It's honestly cool as hell.

Also looks like there's still more phases to this development

I'm extremely excited to see what they do with those older buildings in phase 2, they could really be something incredible. I also think it would be awesome if eventually they build some small pavilion or market style buildings in the current parking lots and rely just on garage parking and the trail connection. This spot is already great but densifying to make it more intimate would take it completely over the top.

Houston fashion designer Chloe Dao to open mini studio in M-K-T mixed-use project

https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2021/02/25/chloe-dao-m-k-t.html

Fashion designer and entrepreneur Chloe Dao, a Houston native and the winner of "Project Runway" season 2, is expanding to the Heights.

Dao will open a mini design studio in the M-K-T mixed-use redevelopment, according to a press release and the M-K-T website. The studio will feature a curated selection of cocktail and evening wear and will showcase the design process from idea to mood board to sketches to the final product. Dao’s Safely Sip masks — a style of face mask for drinking on the go — will also be available for purchase.

“Super excited to be a part of the M-K-T family surrounded by other female entrepreneurs like myself, which was the reason I was truly drawn to this location,” Dao said. “We all bring a different energy that creates great synergy among us that creates a great shopping experience for all.”

This is great news! She makes great masks

Jon Deal is renovating the warehouses to the southeast of the Standard apartments.  It is currently listed as industrial, but all the neighboring development might prompt some more retail friendly leasing.

Looks like they just replaced the small tiles for "The Standard". They posted a bunch of the Instagram photos from the camera they set up next to the MKT bike trail.

Highline Park is opening this summer at MKT, 600 N Shepherd.

According to someone associated with Highline Park, the group's other two food & beverage concepts for M-K-T, Picnic Supply Co. and Casa Nomad, will probably open in the fall.

The website for Highline Park launched last month.

Homestead opens in June at M-K-T, 600 N Shepherd Dr.

As reported, the restaurant is billed as a kitchen & bar. The focus is a blend of Southern, Texan, and Tex-Mex.

I think this is the third restaurant tenant to open at M-K-T.  Rakkan Ramen and Da Gama opened this month, as previously announced.
