mollusk
Dallas Morning News endorsed Greg Abbott. Well, 50 years ago the DMN ran this ad. Granted, they also ran Molly Ivins's column, but it's still prolly the furthest right of Texas' big city dailies.
Purpledevil
Had no idea that there were so many smart HAIFers. LOL!Smart enough to steer clear of the fire storm that this thread has the potential to create, lol...There IS that whole confidentiality thing when it comes to casting a vote, you know. I must say, I laughed pretty hard when I browsed through your options. I mean, Wendy Davis and Dan Patrick, together?? Are we putting up the closed for business sign on the State, or what?

I must say, I laughed pretty hard when I browsed through your options.I mean, Wendy Davis and Dan Patrick, together?? Are we putting up the closed for business sign on the State, or what? well Wendy Davis and Dan Patrick is a possible (yet highly unlikely) combination so I had to throw it in there. So are you saying that you wont vote because I made the votes public? Just thought it would be cool to see everyone's choices for the next leaders of our State. Do you think you will be shunned on here for casting a vote a certain way? I think its too late to make that private.
Purpledevil
I shudder to think what will happen to our State government with Wendy Davis as Governor and Dan Patrick as the Lieutenant. "Dysfunction, party of two, your legislature is ready."You are correct, I won't be casting a vote on your poll. It's not that I feel anyone here would be childish enough to shun me or anyone else that might participate in it, however, I don't believe this is really the most appropriate setting to open up the subject and have such an intimate discussion. Others will surely disagree, and that's their right to do so. I just don't think you're poll is going to accomplish much more than some hurt feelings and angry HAIFers if you reach the activity level you apparently are striving to obtain. mollusk
Hey - I completely support the idea that people in this country have the right to be amazingly wrong about their politics.

Sometime I'm inclined to think dysfunction is our best option, given the polarization of the political parities. Unfortunately, keeping the status quo because nobody can make an intelligent, statesmanlike decision, might be better than going off either deep end. august948
Nobody endorses Dan Patrick except Buckees. In a state-wide race, could be that a Buc-ee's endorsement carries more weight than ones from Chron or the DMN.

IronTiger
Hold up, did Buc-ee's really endorse Dan Patrick? Makes me not like them as much if so. Buc-ee's owner endorsed Dan Patrick, not the company itself. Yes, I know that the SC ruled something contrary to that, but it's still the owner, not the corporation. Montrose1100
Office Talk amongst my conservative co-workers is that the Mayor scared off many democratic voters and turned them red this go around because of her "going after" the sermons. KinkaidAlum
Less than 700,000 people voted in Harris County. Nobody switched sides. The truth is, Wendy didn't stand a chance and I couldn't even tell you the name of the man who ran against Coryn. Throw in house races in gerrymandered districts leaving the vast majority of them completely non-competitive, stricter voting ID laws which affect the poor and young more, and you are left with most people not caring. Of course, the largest factor is people are lazy and can't be bothered. We'll line up and camp out for new Chick-fil-As and Apple Stores, but God forbid we actually have to go vote.
bachanon
god i loathe dan patrick! he's not the sharpest tool in the shed....but definitely a tool. he regurgitates ideology and doesn't have an original thought in his head. i can accept abbott; but patrick as lieutenant gov....embarrassing days ahead for texas. if anyone can shift public sentiment against conservatives, it will be a doofus like dan patrick. lazy...lazy intellect! shame on texas for letting him through the primaries.this is the way off topic forum right? i can voice my "controversial" opinion in this format right?
Fringe
The GOP has again capture Congress which means trouble for Obama. The good thing is DC has legalized pot so when things get nasty for Democrats Obama can retreat to the Oval Office and toke a fattie. A win-win for everyone.

It's far better than any McDonald's we've ever stopped at.
