Taken Friday 5/5/2017. Construction appears to be around floor 29.

I hate that it doesn't have more windows. Think of the views that are missing with all  of those panels.

That's what they did on the Marriott Marquis.  Windows cover less than 1/3 of the western façade of the tower (probably the other sides, too, but that's the only side I have a good look at), with the rest just bare concrete, but they put glass over it so it looks like a glass curtain wall unless you look closely.  Look closely at this:

Hey, architects & engineers!

Why not put a reflective glass of similar hue over the panels? Problem solved?

I thought the reason for the reduction in glass/windows was because of the high expense of glass curtain walls?

It was for heating/cooling purposes.  There was concern about how much power/HVAC capacity would be needed to keep the building cool in the summer.

I don't think we're looking at the same pictures. This already looks dated and drab and it isn't even open yet. That bathroom is simply a hot mess with the mixture of colors and materials, and no, the black Hollywood glam chandelier isn't still in style. The kitchen looks like apartment grade garbage from 10 years ago. HANOVER's rental properties are so much fresher and clean than this. I guess since most of the buyers in these properties won't ever live in them it doesn't really matter.

It's very unfortunate. Arebella is 70% sold and Randy's giving every real estate agent who sells the remaining units a Telsa Model 3. I'm sure he could have found a different solution regarding the HVAC issue.

The vacant lot across from Arabella has been paved with a parking lot. I'm thinking this is a temporary lot for construction workers, since they were parking on the street north of Harris County Annex 85 (street is in the foreground in the photo), but recently the street was posted as a no parking zone and one side is now a tow-away zone.

The field across from Skyhouse has been graded, but there is no evidence of paving right now. There is no construction activity today due to the muddy conditions.

I noticed that the parking lot across from Arabella is not being used, so I walked to the lot to investigate. It turns out this lot is for the Harris County offices at 2221-2223 West Loop South. The District Attorney is moving in due to Harvey damage at their normal location. (Other Harris County functions have already moved in, mostly filling the parking garage.)

The land across from Skyhouse now has an aggregate base and is being readied for paving.

I don't know how long the District Attorney will be here, I'm thinking 6-12 months. So there will be no development of the parking lot property as long as Harris County DA is here. There is no activity at the newly cleared lot on Westcreek across from the Wilshire (and directly east of Harris County), so new development on that property could begin at any time.

Is  this  taking forever or what.

Not particularly.   They started construction just a little more than 2 years ago. Seems like a fairly standard construction time-line.  For a point of reference, the Bleu Ciel high-rise in Dallas has been under construction for 3 years and is not yet complete.

The updated rendering added more plaster to the lower floors. They just put an entire floors of windows in on the current floor where they are working. I drive by daily and construction hasn't slowed.
