Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com and other media reports confirm that after 32 years with Ch. 13 and 40 years in the business, assistant news director Don Kobos is retiring from the Houston ABC O&O station multiple sources have told McGuff.

Houston TV viewers will recognize Kobos, who joined Ch. 13 in 1982 as a reporter and often reported on Live at Five or the weeknight newscasts for example. He started out as an investigative reporter and eventually covered everything from politics, education to general assignments. Following the 2001 inauguration of George W. Bush as our 43rd President on January 20, 2001, Kobos went on to become assistant news director.
