Ladies and gentlemen, I know some of y'all used to watch those "Eyewitness News Updates" on Ch. 13 during movie breaks or TV show breaks, here's several examples:

Sunday, February 3, 1986: Jim Rosenfield subbed in for Van Hackett & Melanie Lawson, who both took the weekend off.

*The 1:39 mark is where you'll see the enlarged Texas state flag in the background of the Update shot with the Circle 13 logo.

Sunday, July 21, 1985 with Melanie Lawson

Van Hackett sometime around 1985 (anyone can tell me which date this update brief took place, let me know).

Stations including 13 still do this, they just don't call them "updates" or "newsbreaks" most times anymore. They just break them down to their essence and tease the stories that will air on the upcoming newscasts for the most part.

In 13's case, they do one during the newscast, at least the 4:30, 5, and 6 broadcasts. "Now, here's Art Rascon with a look ahead to what we're working on for Live@Five."

Depending on how old you are, you'll remember that several of the networks actually blocked 5 minutes aside for a national news report as well. CBS did their's at 10:55, directly after TPIR.

PurpleDevil, here's another video of Ch. 13's news update with Rosenfield on Sunday, September 11, 1988:

It starts at the 00:55 mark, as the News Series 2000 theme song plays (I'd think they later switched to the Sports Eyewitness News theme around later that same year).
