Where did you hear the Randall's in T&C Village was closing down???

No way, rich people don't care about prices, they like Randall's because they can avoid shopping without seeing ethic and black people.

It will never shut down. <_<

I heard on another topic on this site. thats why I asked. I didnt know if they were talking about the randalls in town and country or not.

but if they put an HEB at i-10 and bunker hill it will greatly hamper randall's market share for that area.

hopefully they werent talking about that one. is the one on voss closing down? because the topic spoke of a randalls in the general area of Memorial (77024) to be closing...

It will be an HEB anchored center developed by Fidelis. 125,000 square foot store so I would look for something like the one at Fry @ 99 in Katy that throws in some Central Mkt touches like expanded meat, natural foods, and cheese as well as some HEB Plus features like outdoor grill supplies.

I-10 @ Bunker Hill

I wish that new Town Centre could lure HEB to open a TRUE Central Market there. Houston is certainly big enough to supporttwo locations.

Geeez, I hope it looks nothing like the fake stucco, ghetto design in Katy. Although it's a neat store inside, it looks like it belongs on Hillcroft somewhere. Really cheap stuff.

I agree, but that's too close to the existing location if they ever did build a second. I would expect Clear Lake/Pearland, the Woodlands, Cinco Ranch, and/or Sugar Land to be more likely choices for a second CM than anything inside the Beltway right now.

Here's a map of the entire center: http://www.frpltd.com/FLIERS/West/Village_..._Hill_FLIER.pdf

Tenants include, Olive Garden, Freebirds, Buffalo Wild Wings, Arbys, Panda Express, Candelaris, Becks Prime, Dennys, etc.

If you zoom into the map, you can read the retailers' names on each building.

ICK. Really? Those seem very average and really don't fit the demographics of the area. Its more like a line up you would find out in the suburbs somewhere.

A lot of those places already have some form of an HEB Market. You are right that maybe the location might be too close to the existing one. But there is a huge population in the Beltway area and west that would go to it, and the demographics of 77024 are perfect for that type of market.

What's so ICK about it? Aside from Olive Garden, Gamestop, and Academy, none of those other stores exist in the general area.

Does anyone know what is going to be built on the northwest corner of Bunker Hill and I-10? I have heard it is going to be an HEB, not a Central Market.

What was here before, was it a neigborhood?

And how about the Fiesta on I-10 Campbell. Any news on that?

Here's a more recent list of tenents...just a few adds. Site map looks to be about 90% leased at this point.

HEB

Kohl's

Academy

Circuit City

Chick-fil-A

Olive Garden

I agree with the tenant list. <_<

I also like the Voss Academy and choose it first over all other locations. With the exception of the HEB,all the other stuff listed is sprinkled around within a two mile radius of this place. What gives? It doesn't fit the profile of the area.

Freebirds and HEB are the only two I'm excited about.

Aside from Academy and the occassional trip to PetsMart, I probably wont visit any of those other places. Save for being forced by my wife to drive through Chick Fil A.

Whaaaaaa!!!!!

What happened to Buffalo Wild Wings? They were on the prelim tenant list, now Corner Bakery? A good sports bar would be nice to have around here. Nothing to crazy but somewhere to watch the big shows...... Agree on Chic-Fil-A. No more having to get the bird fix by going to the mall. Best Buy will have a little competition now with C.C.

I hated to hear this too. Supposedly since HEB owns the entire plaza.... they do not want any sports bars there. And Mr. C has apparently he had a very hard time trying to relocate in the area over the past couple of years (he saw the writing on the wall a while back) due to Memorial City owning most of the property from basically bunker hill to the beltway. I think most of my sports bar business will be headed towards Bubbas on Washington for now.

Yep. My hockey team needs a new sports/hangout bar to frequent after our league games. Mr. C's is done as of last weekend. Farewell, cheap drinks and awesome bar staff!

I heard it was Metro National (they're the owners of memorial city, right?) who was doing the demo/rebuild of that little shopping center that currently houses the aforementioned Mr. C's, La Fiesta, and Kobe.

Metro National owns pretty much everything along I-10 south from Bunker Hill to just past Gessner I believe. I have heard (rumors) they plan on a shopping center and townhomes.

I am disapointed that BW3's is gone, but so very stoked about Freebirds. I would like to see something that is a little uniqe to Houston, like a Buffalo Cafe' or something like an Empire come out to the west side.

I wonder what is going to happen with the old Toys R' Us.

I grew up going to that Toys R' Us, it need a makeover or a new location. The shopping center in front of the Toys R' Us has been empty for a while now. I wonder if they will just tear it down and the toy store and put something else there.

I think they are going to bring that shopping center down. There has been some activity at the Toys R' Us in the past few days. I am fairly certain that it has been closed since Ike.

Also, from what I have heard, the owner of the hotel next door is looking to sell. He wants some sort of mixed use development for the site.

Spec's is opening down at the Home Depot/Starbucks between Wirt and Voss. I'm thinking its the same store relocating.

Yeah, there's already a sign up announcing Spec's in that location. So, what about the Toys R Us? Anybody know that location's fate?

I was told about Toys R Us a few months ago, I guess I was wrong.

Hate they are moving further away from me. Not that I am a lush.

Received the following email. For what it's worth....

Subject: PLEASE be careful at the new HEB: I was robbed Thursday

As you know, I was robbed and my car was vandalized last Thursday at the HEB off of Bunker Hill and the Katy Freeway. It was traumatizing. I've been hiding away all weekend. I was walking back to my car and a woman came running after me saying that some black guys were about to crow bar my car. As she was telling me this, they drove back around, smashed my windows, reached in so fast and sped off with my purse. We were standing about 15 feet away. This lady was a God-send b/c she ran after the car and got their license. I stood there and couldn't breathe. I can't describe the gut drenching feeling in my stomach as I saw them drive away with my bag. It all happened so fast....less than 5 seconds I feel. God was with me though b/c out of all of the bags that they could have grabbed quickly, they grabbed the one of least value. Granted, it had all my ID and credit cards in there, but the bag next to it was my laptop and the money box for the co-op. Angels were with me....no joke.

I don't recommend going to the HEB at all. When the cops came, they said I was the 3rd case of the day....from different assaulters. Not to mention, that HEB has been cutting down on security b/c of the holidays. This happened at 12:35 in the afternoon, and security was not required to be there until 4 PM. To top it ALL off, as we were doing my police report, ANOTHER woman walks up and says she wants to file a police report b/c the following week her purse was jacked from her in the same parking lot. The day after (Friday) an old woman was abducted from this lot.

I am telling EVERYONE not to shop there b/c it is clearly not safe. Please simply head to another location for your safety. I cannot tell you how truly fearful I am of my identity theft. They have my address and tried to charge my card in different states already.

Thank you for reading this, and please be careful.

Hugs,

Ok, I just got off the phone with the store Manager over there. I have gotten so I drop into that store, even though it's a monster, to pick up a few things before carpool. I always take these mailers with a grain of salt.

Yes, there was a car break-in. The woman who wrote this email left her purse and her laptop on the front seat of her car and walked away. You don't do that anywhere in this town and expect NOT to be a victim of crime. sheesh. From reading that email several times, she glossed over that part of her story, taking NO accountability. Women get watched at grocery stores all the time. Pay two bucks and have a bagger go with you, no matter what store.

Two, there was no abduction. Her crime was the only crime last week at that store.

Anyway, just thought I would pass that along. The store has increased security and has fielded over 100 phone calls because of this letter, which could be considered somewhat slanderous in my opinion.

Please pass this on to anyone who sends you this email. You don't punish a store for your own, hate to say it, stupidity. I'm sorry she was a victim of crime, but you don't leave temptation lying out in a big city. And now in a big city in a country that is failing and laying off people left and right.

Let's NOT play blame the victim here, okay? I know it makes us all feel better to do so, as it allows us to get too comfy in thinking that it couldn't have happen to us, because we'd be ever so much more careful. But that's delusional, dangerous malarkey. It can and does happen to anyone, including people who are cautious and even those who super-humanly always do the right things.

There only two places to point the finger of blame in these situations: One is at the asshats who commit the crimes, and other is at the entities whcih fail to provide proper protection and security.

I'm not going to feed any hysteria into this particular topic. But I will tell you this for certain: That "manager" either doesn't know everything that's happened in his parking lot recently or he is lying to you. In either case, discussing the reality of the incidents with randomly-calling customers is a serious breach of policy and security.

Well, which is it?

If you're going to leave a purse, laptop, Sacks bag, etc in plain view inside your car, you're not without blame.

And finding fault in her for leaving her purse in plain view to encourage a smash-and-grab has nothing to do with thinking that it couldn't happen to us. In fact, I would argue that the folks who do find fault in doing such a thing, would probably be the first to blame themselves if the same were to happen to them. I know I would.

And further to your post above, I think there's a forth group of individuals to blame too, and that would be those that place an overreliance on the goverment to protect them.

So, one shouldn't take personal responsibility? Interesting. But that is the way America is going lately.

No one deserves to be a victim of crime. Being cautious doesn't prevent you from being a victim of crime. But putting yourself in a situation that invites crime, and expecting it not to happen or expecting others to protect you, is absurd.
