KinkaidAlum
Fencing is up around the bars (Hendricks Pub, ROAK, and the other one) but it is not up around the two story building that housed Cafe Express, the Tanning place, and Hawthorne's. Luminare
Yeah some of the tenants are still in there. I wonder if they are building this in phases? Then again they could be starting demolition on these buildings while the tenants leases expire on the others. I mean Cafe Express left that building because of this project. Luminare
Was jogging on Kirby just a while ago and saw that they have finally fenced off the building that used to have Cafe Express and a smaller tenant above them. I wouldn't be surprised if demolition started within the next couple weeks!
Dakota79
They just fenced off Cafe Express today. I didn't have a chance to get a photo. I was worried they were going to wait for that section.

Naviguessor
Was just there. Fences up. All bars closed/boarded. No construction action or photos.
Luminare
Was just there. Fences up. All bars closed/boarded. No construction action or photos. Which is exactly why I haven't posted pics. Nothing really going on. Just fences no demolition yet.

Luminare
Very nice update! They took off that stupid looking cloud thing with the building name on it lol and it looks like they either moved are totally took out the escalator! This is a wonderful development and hopefully its sets an example for the rest of the area to follow.
houstontexasjack
The new renderings look quite nice. I think these designs complement 2727 Kirby quite well.

houstontexasjack
Forgetting something as well? That's awesome. Maybe the residential can feature a "kill room" with readily available plastic covering.
Montrose1100
Kirby is prime for a development like this. Hoping this and that other residential high-rise get off the ground soon. Will both be wonderful additions.
Sky-guy
I have family that lives down the street from this, at 2727 Kirby, so I'll be able to get some pictures for you all as the project progresses.

Houston?
What's going on with the development that's similar to this one off Richmond near its intersection with Weslayan in Greenway Plaza? I see that the lot has been cleared.

KinkaidAlum
Just drove by and saw several men erecting signs for the project on Kirby @ West Main and Kirby @ Steele. Leasing info. for the office building was on the sign with a few other things but didn't catch a good look. Oops, sorry, meant Colquitt not Steele St. Edited November 4, 2014 by KinkaidAlum
Luminare
There was lots of activity on the site this morning! Looked like a lot of electricians and civil workers getting everything ready for demolition.
Luminare
Drove by this morning and demolition has begun! The first to go was the old funeral home (the white building with the faux classical columns).
