toxtethogrady 808
There are still a few neighborhoods where a mortgage would be cheaper than rent. Either the Feds can take some of the foreclosures and rent them out at the cost of acquisition (rather than letting them fall into the hands of the Blackstones of the world), or they can flip the foreclosures to prospective tenants, complete with fixed mortgages (since the adjustables are the contracts that blew up). If the urban planners are going to insist on multi-family developments, they should create numerous small blocks of housing rather than towers. They just have to make sure the properties don't fall into disrepair. The big problem is land that cheap enough to build on is getting further and further away from the central city. scarface 120
Now if we could just get rid of some of those ugly power lines, Houston would actually be pretty decent looking.

phillip_white 1913
According to this, it maybe be two to three levels of below-grade parking. Montrose1100 3722
I wonder if the Allen Center Parking Garage will ever be improved, it is so big and so plain and right in your face.It was mentioned a while back that if/when the Allen Center should expand (brookfield?), there is placement for 2 towers above the garage (along with a few other sites). Which will hopefully one day put a nice glass curtain or wall garden to cover it.

asubrt 754
This is another one that seems to be moving quite slowly. Maybe it's just because of the huge hole they had to dig for below-grade parking, but it's been under construction for about 7 months and still not at ground level (at least from what it looks like in that picture and when driving by on 45).

urbanize713 1351
It appears this will be concrete all the way up. Any industry folks able to tell us why they would choose to do so in this instance? Will check out how high the southern portion is this weekend. I don't think the surface parking lot is part of it. Just the block and a half south of the parking lot. bound by Salnier, crosby, Andrews and Heiner. The parking lot just south of Dallas was the rumored Drake apartments that never were mentioned again after the one blurb that first mentioned them. http://devmap.io/cities/houston/developments
