Urbannizer
Can anyone tell me what new tenants are mentioned in the article? Thank you! New tenants in store for Two Shell Plaza? No new tenants are mentioned, it's just a misleading article title.

plumber2
Balfour Beatty? Hmmf. I would have picked someone else, like a Linbeck or a Bellows, but Hines can choose whoever they want. I'm sure the finished product will be good enough for most folks.

intencity77
Yikes! Looks just awful and it doesn't even match the building. Should have left the classic stone cladding alone. Not every tower needs to look like it's sitting on top of a parking garage podium because essentially that's what this looks like now, albeit poorly done. KinkaidAlum
Look, it's an anklet from 1985.
BigFootsSocks
I wouldn't mind if the whole building was like this, but instead have some "randomness" to the window places and sizes.
downtownian
What's most disturbing about the facelift is the corruption of modernist design. The prior design was elegant, unitary in form and the structural components of the building dictated the design (the now covered windows of the lower floors expressed the distribution of gravity loads). The facelift blends two styles and the result is a jumbled postmodernism: modernist - the facelift retains the visual depiction of the distribution of gravity loads by gradually narrowing the slits and everything above the facelift is still modernist; some sort of neoclassical impulse - adding a podium.

Subdude
It's hard to think of any facade remodeling that actually improves things; but even by that low standard this one is pretty nasty.
BigFootsSocks
Unless it's a full facade reno like federal building, I agree completely.
Luminare
I would like to see a night pic of this when it has all the lighting up. I agree the color of the material isn't very inspiring. The black just looks too washed out, but from one of the renderings it might look really nice at night?
