mojeaux131
this building is shaping up pretty well. i'm excited about its completion (correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think it's done yet? what do y'all think? i'm sorry, i keep having trouble posting images--i find an image on a site, but what exactly is the url for the image itself? can anyone help this poor, lost building dork?
YakuzaIce
This thread probably says all you need to know for photos http://www.houstonarchitecture.info/haif/i...owtopic=195&hl=If you are just trying to get an image off the site, then right click the picture, go to properties, then it will say address (URL), highlight that, copy it and paste it into a post, then put "picture's URL" (no quotation marks)And I do not believe that the Dominion is done yet.

Montrose1100
I wish the orignal Domion @ Post Oak would have been built. It looked alot better then this one, although it is still very nice. Always glad to see more and more Residential projects in Uptown, to "fill in the gaps".

bachanon
yet another blight on our dear city's skyline. the original renderings were better. it aches to see this waste in the same frame as philip johnson's buildings on post oak.an utter travesty. ughhhh!
kjb434
My only complaint about the Dominion is the color and that fact it is rental apartments. If the color was darker and the units were condos are least planned to turn into condos i would be reall happy. But i'm am happy with the increased interest in developers to build up instead of horizontal.
gwilson
it has taken them FOREVER to get to this point.Montebello is bigger and went up faster. I believe the rental mid-rise on Post Oak by Uptown Park also went up faster than this building.Perhaps my time frame is skewed, but I remember it being that same way for almost a year and a half. kjb434
It all depends on the permit process, weather and access.Don't forget that McCue was rebuilt while this building was being constructed. The project also has a tighter constraint to build in versus 1200 post oak, montebello, and ville d'est

Jushi
Dominion Post Oak has been open 4 months and is now full. Was at about 40% about twoo weeks ago. Up until that time resident quality and service good. Now it is truly a residence that will trash(crash) soon! The new residents from La. are trashing the place. Stinky dogs as big as small ponies...poop in the elevator...urine in the elevators. Club room now nursery and playroom. Find new residents rude...pool area always a mess. The poor staff especially maintenance(too few) are working themselves to a frazzle! I am from South America and I have never seen such rudeness and lack of consideration for others. Looking for a new residence already!!!!

YakuzaIce
Sorry to hear how quickly conditions there turned sour. Hopefully the most inconsiderate residents will move out, making the building a nice place again.

kjb434
How permanent are these new residents. My assumption is that they would move out as soon as the free rent ends.
VicMan
Now, unclean toilets is something that doesn't sound so far off to me, but crap in the elevator? That sounds like something that happened at the Superdome.
zaphod
hey, dont want to be rude, but for these people its a whole lot different coming from a blue collar suburban neighboorhood to a snoody high rise, and although the dogs are a mess, im sure the owners will adjust to caring for them in that setting, and the dogs will start to learn that it needs to go potty when the owner takes it down the elevator to the grass and not in the elevator. Also, im sure the kids will start to mellow out eventually. Besides, there really isnt much for them to do up there besides play video games.I mean, geess, before these people came in, how many of y'all had kids and dogs? i can tell by the fact the building has a club room and not a nursery/game room or a playground that the number would've been less.If you think about it, its sort of important to get more kid and pet friendly urban living arrangements in this city... kjb434
Because the government is paying the rent. That's why I'm wondering if they people will be leaving soon when the free rent dries up.
gwilson
I checked that building out a few weeks ago and looked at one of the penthouse units. It was nice, but the layout was unimpressive. They could have done some better design. I do know the entire top floor, save for this unit, was occupied by royalty and staff from some middle eastern nation. The young lady that showed me around was quite fetching though. Gorgeous in fact. VicMan
By the way, just for informational reasons, I'm posting the schools that the complex is zoned to:* Briargrove Elementary School - http://es.houstonisd.org/briargrovees/* Grady Middle School - http://ms.houstonisd.org/gradyms/* A choice of Lamar High School (http://hs.houstonisd.org/lamarhs/), Lee High School (http://hs.houstonisd.org/leehs/), or Westside High School (http://hs.houstonisd.org/westsidehs/) - Most wealthy residents in the zone who have kids that remain in the public school system choose to enroll their kids in Lamar or Westside.Briargrove is gaining a brand new campus scheduled to open in the next school year. Also, are most of the Katrina evacuees out of the complex now? It's been more than six months.. Edited April 15, 2006 by VicMan
