Oh the days when we all thought this was never going to get built. So much drama. So much speculation. We have certainly come a long way haven't we.

What's the next building we are all irrationally impatient about that has not started yet?

It only took 6 years from proposal to groundbreaking. I can't believe there were any doubts.

One Market Square is tunnel connected.

I presume you mean Market Square Tower?  Pretty sure it’s not connected.  As far as I can tell, the closest the tunnels get to Market Square Tower is 2 blocks away at 717 Texas.

i wonder if Hines will connect Brava to the tunnels via 717 Texas…

It is tunnel connected to the new Bank of America Building and yes Brava will be tunnel connected.

Yes, but One Market Square is a parking garage, not a residential tower.

FWIW, I can find no mention of the tunnels on Brava's website.  If they are going to the trouble/expense of providing tunnel access, I would think it would be mentioned as an amenity.

Brava does not have tunnel access, they didn't dig far enough down or have spots to connect.

I wonder if the Marriott will ever get sweet revenge on the Parkside for stealing their view. All they have to do is to build something 43 floors high on the lot just to the west and they can box them in forever as payback.

All to the benefit of the downtown skyline.

Any idea why that one floor hasn’t had any framing when pretty much all the others are at least weather tight.

Yes.

Level 35 was used as the drop point for the swingstages.  These were used for installation of metal wall panels and other exterior wall scopes of work.  It will now be framed, sheathed, and closed up and the swingstages will be dropped from level 43.

One can only hope.

I'm serious...we would probably have renderings of their district if the lockout hadn't occurred.

The Astros have been quietly purchasing neighboring lots to build a baseball theme village similar to what has been happening in other MLB cities.

My understanding is that the lot with the red circle is owned by Incarnate Word, so not currently involved in the development, although there could maybe be a parking garage arrangement where they keep the land but agree to lease the land for a garage with some capacity set aside for them but catering to the neighboring development. The Green oval is currently owned by someone else who, from what I've been told, has held out for a tower through a couple booms and busts. Orange is the corner of what the Astros own, continuing out of frame to the east. So, so far, not the largest parcel of land available to the Astros, unless they can work something out with Incarnate Word for a garage or Green Circle owner lowers his expectations a bit. People can let me know if I'm wrong about any of that.

I think you have it all correct.  Just to amplify a bit, I'm pretty sure Mr. Crane has indicated that he is talking to/has talked to (perhaps they've already come to an agreement) Incarnate Word about including that  red-circled land in his project, I would imagine including the provision of some parking in the project for Incarnate Word.

Crane mentioned specifically about an underground garage so that they can develop on the land. He joked about having a close relationship with the church now since some of their nuns were attending the games.

^^^ for months now, i have been trying in earnest to allow myself to FALL IN LOVE with this burgeoning development.  however, the overall exterior design is fast becoming a very serious game of HIT & MISS.  just what on earth is going on here with this exterior design... MY GOSH?  there is simply no BEAUTY here.  thank god for the sumptuous floor scale of (43 stories).  otherwise, there would be nothing here to really celebrate.  how on earth could they design/construct a building here THIS UGLY right in front of one of the most dynamic/gorgeous hotels in the city... MARRIOTT MARQUIS?  the staff of this hotel must be absolutely terrified every time they step out on that magnificent TEXAS SIZED pool terrace.  our wonderful/magical HAIF photographers @hindesky @cityliving to name a few, have tried their respective best to present this edifice at its most glorious hour.  however, i think that their superb efforts have been in vain here.  this place is just flat out UGLY...
