Tejo
i work for WFM, we usually get an early headsup on new builds. thus far we've only gotten word of Post Oak, Champions, The Woodands, and Woodway rebuild. curious as to the silence on Bunker Hill. TexasGeneral
The construction site immediately to the south of the WF site is going to be the new home of Jonathan's The Rub restaurant and catering business. There is a sign out front.
Motis B Totis
From this release there's no mention of a Whole Foods. I assume they're not finished planning what will be in front of the hotel. https://www.memorialcity.com/pdf/MN_Press_Release_Zaza.pdf
cloud713
Decent but moo.. Will there be more? I liked that 17 story oval residential highrise.
Houston?
Is this a different rendering or is this going to be part of the overall development that includes the oval tower?

Gary
Decent but moo.. Will there be more? I liked that 17 story oval residential highrise. Looks like this is just part of the development. The residential is separate from the Hotel Zaza.
cloud713
Oh, I hope your right. I thought I read that the hotel was supposed to go in the 3 or so stories on top of whole foods/in the podium of the original renderings.
Triton
This project is full speed ahead. Quite a lot of activity on the site. I'll try to take pictures when I leave work tomorrow.
Triton
Edit: Now that I saw it from the garage... this is for something else, isn't it? 2014-07-02 18.00.14 by marclongoria, on Flickr
cloud713
did we ever determine if this was actually equipment/progress for this site or if its just a staging site for something else?
TexasGeneral
This has been a staging and parking site for the construction of the new Jonathan's Rub behind the Nexen building. The Hotel ZaZa project has not begun, although it looks like the building that housed the seafood restaurant and tanning salon is now being demo'ed. 79ta
nothing has started on that plot, my guess would be that it won't happen until the air liquid center is complete.... and then again they may start on that dillards tower before this one too. Triton
including WF? i was told very matter of factly about a month ago that WF is not part of their plans anymore. Zaza still is though.I am honestly not sure, swtsig. I do not have the details of what is included in the project still.
Houston?
I would be shocked if WF doesn't make it. The Memorial City area is a smaller Uptown; it can definitely support a WF.

Paco Jones
The Zaza project is over budget by a good amount. I'm interested to see if they bring it within budget or shelf it.
Motis B Totis
http://s24.postimg.org/h0ul5cjvp/med.jpg Here it its, possibly the final plan for the area. Now that the Air Liquide project is finishing up the Hotel Zaza project is next on the list for Metro National. Ciro's and the tanning place will be torn down and relocated on the property. A fitness center will be added to the back side of the Murphy garage. A sky bridge will be added to connect across Memorial City Way. One final office building will be built on the grassy knoll. Lastly, due to its success at City Centre, the almighty green space will be added to the property. All this should be completed prior to the super bowl. DNAguy
Can you imagine the hospital, mall, and bunker hill west being connected in one coherent walkable district? That would be pretty cool. I mean, one can hope right? THENNNNNN, greater Memorial City can be integrated into Citycentre along I10 to form one large west Houston district... We'll call it the WHE8 district. West Houston, East of 8: WHE8. We'll pronounce like 'wait' or 'weight'. Then we can have this amazing Abbott and Costello routine when we describe the area: Person: Where do you live?Me: WHE8.Person: Sure, answer when you can.Me: I didPerson: Did what?Me: Answered your question.Person: No you didn't. You said wait.Me: Exactly. Hilarious Houston Home Humor.
