Popular Post cspwal
Nothing can replicate the unique joy of Houston House - of 500 people sharing one elevator, of the guy at the front desk (who you know who it is if you have lived there) to the constant "renovations" that get neglected after a few months. No modern complex can completely capture the glory of Houston's first high rise apartment building in downtown 11
dbigtex56
Looks like a model apartment may be nearing completion - the unit on the northwest corner (top floor) has lights.

Popular Post midtowndweller
Was on my balcony last night and forgot to take pix, but the bottom panels (Pool terrace level downward) were lit up and changing colors. I want them to go all the way up. I’ll try to take a pick tonight if they’re illuminated. Didn’t know it was going to have that feature. Really great addition to the skyline. We need a little more light in our skyline nothing too tacky like Vegas but I’m waiting for something like Los Angeles’ Wilshire Grand Central. I circled the ones that were lit up. Popular Post hindesky
Unloading cabinets, crews were cleaning units out and the crane was brought to take the smaller palm tree down from the pool area and hoist up a larger sized one identical to the others.

CREguy13
Have there been any announcements on retailers opening here? Hoping this building grows on me over time, and solid retailers that serve the neighborhood will certainly help.

Avossos
I am curious about this building. Strikes me the poster child of cost engineering. The shape isn't bad, but when you look at the stucco - it looks dated / sloppy. I guess this boils down to materials... It will hopefully bring a lot of life and energy into midtown. Agree with @CREguy13 that the retailers can help make this a solid development portfolio.

Or sell the property to someone else, like Hines or Hanover.
urbanize713
From when I toured the building the leasing agent said an Asian restaurant had signed a lease for the retail space facing Main Street. Take that for whatever it's worth.
Texasota
I mean, if a restaurant has signed a lease, there is probably a greater than 50% chance that it is *some kind* of Asian cuisine.

Popular Post hindesky
First restaurant has been announced, HaiDiLao Hot Pot. https://houston.eater.com/2020/7/14/21324131/haidilao-hot-pot-houston-opening-midtown High-end hot pot restaurant HaiDiLao’s Texas expansion continues with a second Houston location that’s currently under construction in Midtown, just north of the MATCH Theater. Construction permits filed in May indicate that HaiDiLao is set to open its doors on the ground floor of the forthcoming mixed-use development the Travis at 3300 Main Street, at the intersection of Main and Francis. That puts the restaurant in the middle of a quickly-changing neighborhood and neighbors with a number of wildly popular Houston Asian restaurants like Mai’s, Gen Korean BBQ House and Spicy Girl. Founded in China in 1994, the chain is known for its lavish hot pot spreads, a bounty of proteins to cook, and large selection of broths, along with over-the-top approach to customer service, including shoe shines, manicures and free snacks. As previously reported by Eater, the chain also has a location in the works in Katy that’s set to arrive sometime early next year. Yesterday, Eater Dallas reported that a location would be opening in DFW suburb Frisco. No timeline is set yet for the Mid-Main location’s opening.

Popular Post MarathonMan
North side of The Travis at night. Better than the daytime view. It’s oddly fitting, though, that there are a couple of lights that are out-of-sync with the rest. Maddening — just like the unpainted parking garage. LOL!
