Howard Huge
Yeah Monarch, they've really picked up the pace.I wonder how visible this will be in the skyline from the Gulf Freeway. Will it stretch the skyline past the severe dropoff at Chase Tower?
Twinsanity02
The Catalyst is approx 60 ft shorter than the Marriott Marquis ( according to Emporis). How visible is the hotel from the Eastex or Gulf freeways?
Twinsanity02
From a construction cam at U of H ( new basketball arena) the Marriott is visible. Suppose so will the Catalyst and the other high rise apartment north of MM park as well as block 98.
Twinsanity02
Basketball practice facility not arena. View is quite good

Twinsanity02
I think that is the 8 story Alexan downtown under construction.
bobruss
The roughly 24 story courthouses stretch the skyline north so Im sure that the Catalyst will do the same for the northeast quadrant of the city. If they build the residential tower next to Jacksons barbecue just north of Minute maid that will really stretch the skyline.

BigFootsSocks
Is the crane's arm long enough to reach the midrise portion, or is there another crane going in later?
hindesky
Is the crane's arm long enough to reach the midrise portion, or is there another crane going in later?Tower crane is right in the middle of the project, it's on the eastern edge of the high rise so it will be able to reach the whole block. I don't think a second tower crane will be added.

dml423
Noooooooooo! That building was one of my favorites in downtown. Why did they bring it down? I had always hoped they would turn it into lofts.

cspwal
Noooooooooo! That building was one of my favorites in downtown. Why did they bring it down? I had always hoped they would turn it into lofts. It had structural issues, and no one wanted to save it enough to spend dump trucks full of cash to fix it Thread:http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/29510-hogan-allnoch-building-texas-and-austin/
