H-Town Man
The bulk of Chicago's office space is in the Loop (a bit larger than the inmost box in the diagram, bounded by the river to the north and west and Grant Park to the east). Going north of the river you increasingly have residential towers instead of office towers, and beyond the northern end of Michigan Ave. it's pretty much all residential, which extends in a thin line up through Lincoln Park towards Evanston. Chicago's CBD has a total of around 130 million square feet of office space, of which 50-75% is in the Loop, depending on how strict your definition of the Loop is. Houston's CBD by comparison has about 45 million square feet. Another useful comparison is Lower Manhattan, which last time I checked had around 70 million square feet.

lockmat
After checking out the street view, the ugly parking garage is only half the block facing this development. The other is a nice older building. No doubt that garage will be redeveloped one day. Also, does anyone know what the ballet has planned for their property just to the west of this development? What kind of expansion plans could they possibly want/need?

That ugly garage is the Houston Chronicle garage, which Hines just bought along with the Chronicle building with the intention of redevelopment, so hopefully! Montrose1100
"Non-smoking"Ugh, god this fad is really starting to catch on here...I didn't think you could smoke inside a rented place in the city? Why would you want to anyways? I'm sure they allow it on their balconies and maybe by the pool, but certainly not indoors.Of course you maybe talking about a legal in Colorado kind of smoking, in which case is illegal all around.
cspwal
At my apartment, you're not supposed to smoke inside, but you can out on your balconies, on the pool deck - everywhere outside. BigFootsSocks
Part of me hoped when it dropped that the drone would wobble and/or cut to a scene of a drone rapidly descending along one of the towers, but I guess that just leaves the door open for someone with a drone to do just that... Nate99
We need a super tall between penzoil and BOA. In the middle of Louisiana Street? The long ago proposed BotSW Tower on the Milam/Walker/Louisiana/McKinney block would have been perfect for the skyline.
bransocial
MST will add nicely to our skyline; hopefully when the market stabilizes a developer will actually build a 85-100 story tower with a public sky deck that rivals Willis (Sears) Tower in Chicago or 1 World Trade Center (Freedom Tower) in NYC. Houston deserves it.
enriquewx91
The view coming into downtown from I-45N will change once 609 Main at Texas is completed from what I see. Looks like Fulbright and Houston Center will be blocked somewhat.
bobruss
As Ive said in the past I think that the Market Square 40 story high rise and the Hines 32 story project might actually block out much of the new Hines 609 Main coming in from I-45. Only because of where they both are positioned far north of 609 Main they seem to line up and will block a large portion of the lower floors. Just my guess. Tumbleweed_Tx
They will, but 609 will be significantly taller.

bobruss
From my count it looks like they're on the 28th floor, so they should have roughly 12 more to go. Which should put it about where the power line runs across the image above.
