Also opening on the ground floor of Elan Memorial is The Yellow Cup at 6001 Washington Ave, Suite 100. It's a cafe that will serve coffee and tea.

Interesting.  I wonder if the proprietors know a Starbucks is being built right now less than 1000 feet away from them at 6201 Washington Ave?

Commercial Structures

Also,  does anyone here know what is going on with the Union Kitchen at this location?  It was supposed to be open in July but is not yet open nor is this location even mentioned on their website (that I can find...)

Residents of the Memorial Club complex across the street given notice to move for Phase II

Awesome news. That roundabout is very cool - needs a refresher. I do really like how the 4 neighborhoods come together there. Hopefully this building has a good presence. It needs to be able to age gracefully.

I wonder if this will look anything like phase 1?

Trying to remember wether the Traders Joe was supposed to be in this building or in the apartments across the street? Anyone recall? I do recall word of their being one in one or the other many years ago.

Rumored, but never confirmed I think. (Also, I like the term Traders Joe as the plural. Kind of like Attorneys General.)

I look forward to a future where thousands of people live in midrises around this roundabout and all of them are having to drive to get a taco or a bottle of wine since there's no GFR.

There WAS a Spec's on the roundabout until the city closed it for being too close to the elementary school. (These proximity rules are something that needs to be revisited as the city densifies, BTW.)

Would be great if a grocer went in this area. Its technically a food desert. People that live in that area have to drive all the way east to find a store. However, if there was to be a grocer, you'd think that they would advertise it there renders in the front of the lot.

There was talk of Trader Joes being in the ground level retail in Phase 1 - I don't think anything beyond talk. I could be wrong, but doesn't appear from the rendering that Phase II includes GLR, rather is limited to lobby and parking garage.
