Ah come on now guys, I know this project takes a lot of flak for its pace (deservedly slow) but the circle jerking has gotta stop somewhere! Yeah, the brick look bad because it was just laid and hasn't received a proper cleaning yet. All newly laid masonry work has that dirt effect to it.

Now that I've looked at it more it does look decent - I didn't even think about that it would need to be cleaned.  The Fannin side has been painted black, so the brick on that side will look almost like it's floating

There's absolutely no way the Texaco development will be done anytime soon. Just last week I saw the first progress on the roof in months -- they installed some ductwork for the HVAC system.

At least they seem to have finally finished the framework for the big structure they added to the north part of it.

Now that Gator Purify mentions it, one of the things that puzzles me about Houston with its near Tropical climate is the number of darkish buildings and houses and roofs. It seems a more southern Spain or Greece light color buildings would work better in terms heat reflection. I guess it all comes out to what sells.
