Bell station used to be a stop to nowhere.I used to marvel at all 4 surrounding lots were vacant. And how much potential for tod was there. cspwal
Â Maybe now that there's a staircase framing will go faster. Sunstar
Any one want to wager what the next downtown residential project finished for move in will be? I had always assumed this one, but now I'm thinking either Crawford or the old Texaco building. I wouldn't totally count out the new Sky House at the rate they slap those things up. I don't have any visibility into the Hamilton apartments to know where they are on that project.

I don't have any visibility into the Hamilton apartments to know where they are on that project. The Texaco renovation might hit another gear soon, but they are taking their time there. The entire interior is still completely stripped and the exterior has just started to go back on one of the walls. Presumably, they will be building the parking garage in the hole before occupancy too. I haven't checked the timeline on the map, but I'd guess another couple of years on it. EDIT: Development map says Q4 2015. That seems optimistic. UtterlyUrban
I wonder who will finish first: this place or SkyHouse 3?Seriously, I do wonder what the "design changes" we're that slowed this project up??? Purdueenginerd
The design changes rumor puzzles me. Thats an expensive-ass change order for a 'Redesign' of a 4-5 story building. Call me skeptical of that rumor.  I'm wondering if they had QA problems or material problems on their concrete.

I would guess that this is largely pre-fab stuff that was manufactured a while ago (and not counted into the "construction time"). But, even then, what are the trade offs of constructing this way? toxtethogrady
Theoretically, they can 3D print the components and then snap the pieces together. That's one way they can construct these buildings in record time without having to prefabricate everything.
phillip_white
From what I've read about this, they're using a modular design that's the equivalent of creating a lego building (similar to tilt wall). I don't imagine they are including the fre-fab stage or foundation pour in the actual construction time. Supposedly this type of construction uses less material, is cheaper, and supposedly stronger than conventional construction. Perhaps they'll find the downside after the building is complete. Is this true? Can someone educate me? You make jokes but wouldn't it be ironic if some freak accident befell this project and threw it even further behind schedule? Houston19514
Looking at the critical mass picture v this one, looks like its about a floor a month now that they're in the wood.  They should top off in July-August then.. They are working on the fourth floor of a 5-story building. Even if your "floor a month" estimate is accurate, that would put the top off closer to May-June than July-August.
cspwal
*face palm* I was looking at just the wood wow. Â Yeah May-June not July-August. Â I wonder how long it will take after the structure is up to finish out the building
Houston19514
^ and your "month" is closer to 2 1/2 weeks. So the early part of that May-June period looks more likely for the topping off.
