And DT residents can go there too, I guess 😆 Thanks @wilcal! A lot, a lot of businesses were spending in pursuit of revenue, and COVID caught the ones who were stretched thin with their pants down. Even in hospitality, some private equity groups are making a killing buying these kinds of assets. The sudden-ness of the closing means they probably weren't financially liquid enough to survive the tough time, but this will most likely be sold to some PE company and continue to be what it was. So, no fretting. Can't let all those renovations go to waste! Edited January 12, 2021 by X.R.

At 20+ hotels, you'd think you'd have so many price points covered, so may be it would make sense to introduce multiple price points at the "i'm in Houston for a week" type of thing. hindesky
The Palm steakhouse moves from longtime home on Westheimer to downtown One of Houston’s long-running, iconic steakhouses has a new home in downtown. The Palm, having spent more than 40 years on Westheimer, opens Friday, Oct. 1 at 1201 Fannin (the former III Forks space) in the mixed-use GreenStreet district. The relocated Palm arrives downtown complete with its signature murals and caricatures as well as a familiar menu of aged steaks and chops, seafood, and Italian-inspired dishes. The new two-story location features a modern, updated décor with seating for 230 and a piano bar offering live music nightly. There’s also a table for six seated directly at the grand piano as well as an eight-top created from one of the original round boots from the original location at 6100 Westheimer. Longtime Palm fans will recognize Jimmy Martin, who served as the original general manager, who is returning to operations as the downtown location’s maitre’d. Martin lends his recipe for Veal Chop Parm as one of the new additions to the menu. That menu, under direction of executive concept cchef Michael Coury and executive chef Jim Krauss, includes Palm staples such as jumbo lump crab cake, fried calamari, clams oreganata and clams casino, jumbo shrimp cocktail, crab meat cocktail, steak tartare, lobster bisque, and a variety of salads. The Tuscan-inspired fare includes veal parm, linguine with white clam sauce, chicken parm, pappardelle Bolognese, mushroom gnocchi, chicken arrabbiata, Veal Martini (veal with shallots, mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, white wine and marsala), and Chilean sea bass pizzaiolia. Seafood options: King salmon with Tuscan white beans and broccoli rabe; Alaskan King crab; tuna with charred tomatoes, olives, capers, pine nuts and raisins; squid ink pasta with lobster, clams and shrimp; Gulf red snapper in classic Livornese sauce; and broiled Nova Scotia lobster. The Palm’s signature Prime steaks menu offers New York strip, dry-aged Kansas City strip, ribeye, Delmonico, Porterhouse, and tomahawk ribeye, as well as lamb rib chops, veal chop, and double-cut pork chop. “The move to GreenStreet presented the perfect opportunity for The Palm. We are thrilled to revitalize this legendary restaurant at its new location in the heart of Downtown Houston,” said James Hamilton, vice president of Palm Restaurants. “Guests can look forward to an array of innovative, chef-curated offerings, in addition to The Palm’s classic offerings in a lively, modern environment.” The Palm, 1201 Fannin, 713-977-2544; thepalm.com/location/the-palm-houston. Open daily, Monday through Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday 3:30 to 11 p.m., and Sunday 3:30 to 10 p.m. https://preview.houstonchronicle.com/dining/the-palm-steakhouse-opens-downtown-oct-1-16497272
