Heights2Bastrop
While in Bastrop recently, I made mention of an area with nice homes on large lots. I questioned why someone would want that large of a yard, and I was told that, since the area had no sewer system, 5 acres was the minimum lot size to support a septic system. Is anyone familiar with this rule? Is it a local or State requirement?
RedScare
H2BI believe the minimum requirement is going to be a county rule. That's not to say that the 5 acres is their requirement. That could be a subdivision or deed restriction. The building inspector or health department can tell you about size and permit requirements. TCEQ also has rules in place. Here's their website.http://www.tceq.state.tx.us/nav/permits/on-site.html
Heights2Bastrop
After the person told me that, I recalled how many listings there were in that area for 5-acre lots. It makes sense now. Thanks for the link, RedScare. That looks like quite a bit of useful information.
RedScare
No problem.Hey, are you finding prices like these in your land hunting trips?http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/3268553I suspect these numbers run highest northwest and west of Austin, but how is it in Bastrop? Heights2Bastrop
I bought my place in Bastrop a little over a year ago, 8 acres off Hwy 304 on south side of Cedar Creek. My girlfriend is the one looking for a house there, and she will move just as soon as her one in Houston sells.
