Specwriter
Does anyone have an opinion on TPO roofs as a replacement roof in a residential neighborhood? Should our HOA allow them? A TPO (Thermoplastic polyolefin) roof is a great product that has been around for many years now. That said they are usually installed on low slope (2-on-12 pitch or less) roofs for commercial and industrial projects. I do not think a single family residence, even a fairly large one, would be a candidate for a TPO roof. I do not believe it would be economical. If you are truly interested in a membrane roofing system (and your HOA will permit it) consider an EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) roof. Again, these are primarily for low slope roofs. If you have a mid-century modern style house with a low pitched roof it might be something to consider.
