Per the linked document below, something is happening to the Holiday Inn on the east side of 610 west, just north of Richmond. Post Properties and Bury+Partners are listed as the involved parties. Are they going to demolish and build residential or convert it? From Post's website, it looks like they only have residential buildings.

HFF's website says it is still on the market. I guess they need to update it? http://www.hfflp.com/GetDocument.aspx?ID=35251&FN=%C2%B13.9+Acres+Flyer-7.31.11.pdf&DT=1

I thought this was about the old Holiday Inn Select off Southwest Freeway, which even though it's an old 1970s building, recently (three years ago?) redid itself to be a Crowne Plaza. Oh well.

I think the link's expired, won't load.

Is that the old "Hotel 31" ?   I've been waiting for the Hotel Impossible guy to come in and save the place.   I mean if you can't make it in the Galleria area when Houston is booming....

The bones of the building seem to be in good shape for some sort of hotel.   Just think it's been poorly run (down) for several years.

Here are some fun reviews:

Same developer behind Richmond Landing.

Post Properties VP of investments Bart French (keeping warm in sunny Florida working on another deal now) tells us the newest project is yetunnamed but will sit inside the Loop near Richmond and 610. Post acquired the four-acre site last year; it's occupied by an abandoned hotel, qualifying it for BOMA's Most-Likely-To-Be-The-Site-Of-An-Episode-Of Scooby-Doo. It will demolish the hotel (yoinks!) and replace it with 390 high-end apartment homes.

A rendering of the upcoming property. Bart expects a groundbreaking later this year, depending on market conditions, and construction will last 20 to 24 months. To be a little cozier, the five-story project will orient toward the neighborhood rather than 610.

Ohhh so thats what this is going to be. I was driving into greenway plaza this morning and saw all the demolition and didn't know what was up. The new development isn't to shabby at all. I would certainly like to see the site plan and a couple more renderings though.

Edit: And finally a developer with common sense to orient the building away from the highway! Fantastic :)

I've never been able to see the lake from the freeway. I used to stand next to it everyday waiting for the bus on Post Oak. It's full of ducks.  Unless you are looking for it it's not even very noticeable from Post Oak. I think the only people that really notice it are the few people who wait at the bus stop and the people who live in the million dollar condos across the street. Maybe with the new apartments going up there it will get a little more use as a dog park.

Post Galleria is located in Houston’s Galleria Neighborhood, providing 395 units in a five-story, Type 3A wood framed building. The associated amenities include a fitness facility and clubroom that provide close to 10,000 SF of leisure space for residents, in addition to a large private courtyard and swimming pool. The architectural bridge feature of the main entrance fronts the neighboring high end residential neighborhood. This contemporary bridgeway opens into an additional communal courtyard with ornate landscaping featuring a water fountain.
