nolaboy
Grand Mission section 9 has started development (at the terminous of S Mason Rd, about a mile south of Westpark Tollway). Lennar and Westin Homes are more than halfway done with building their model homes. The first two sections have been paved already. Does anyone know when Mason will be extended to Beechnut? Also, it looks like Lakemont is about to open the streets in the southwest end of the development. This includes Lakemont Point Drive, which connects Lakemont Bend Ln to Beechnut. Lakemont Point Drive is open up to about 10 feet away from Beechnut -- I assume this is to allow Beechnut to expand to 4 lanes in the future. Does anyone know when this will happen?1901-02204_ GRAND MISSION COMBO MAP_11-02-10.pdfLakemont.pdf
nolaboy
Here is the Grand Mission Estates land plan. Currently, the roads in sections 9 and 10 are opened and about 20% of the lots have started construction or are nearing completion. S Mason Rd is currently open up to the entrance of Sect. 9 and 10 (Kingsford Trail Ln), and it looks like the ground is being cleared for a southward extension to Ridge Harvest Ln (entrance to Section 13) as was as further south to Beechnut. https://civcastusa.com/projectdetails.aspx?projectid=2811
august948
It seems as though extension of streets on the edges of town is frequently left to the developers. When they extended Westpark through Royal Oaks and Shadow Lake from Wilcrest to Dairy Ashford the right of way was cleared but they only built half of the four lane divided road and have been routing traffic on it, one lane each way, for over 10 years now. That example is way closer in than the one above so good luck seeing a fully built road in your lifetime.
Trae
You never know. They don't seem to cheap the roads like that out in Katy. Most are four lanes, some being expanded recently.

Can you ride either of those all the way into town?
cla
It seems as though extension of streets on the edges of town is frequently left to the developers. Yes, this is true. I live in Katy and the streets expand as the developers build them. The county gets involved when needed - such as parts of the roadway being built around the new high school at Falcon Landing and Gaston. If it weren't for the new school, only the developer's portion would be built right now. Same thing for the extension of Spring Green northward. As the developers build out their communities, the roadway will be built.

Beechnut is continuous into town from just west of 99 (although the street name changes to Braeswood east of 610). Bellaire is continuous from Addicks Clodine eastward (with a name change to W Holcomb east of 610).

It starts and stops a few more times before becoming Fulshear-Gaston Rd. near FM 723.

westguy76
If I had bought a new home in one of these nieghborhoods I don't think I would be too excited about Bellaire eventually being completed into the mission bend area and on to highway 6. nolaboy
Section 11 opened a little over a month ago. Section 13 is complete, and partially barricaded off. Mason was extended south up to Section 13. CivCast has Section 12 out for bid.
