Porchman
KTRK just announced Wayne Dolcefino has resigned after 27 years with the station. It's been a while since he has posted a report. Anybody know what's going on?The timing is interesting considering the indictment of Trevino who he investigated.
kylejack
Illegal or unethical tactics? Maybe they wouldn't give him a raise he felt he deserved? It's a mystery.
little frau
I have always thought that one of his "subjects" would seek revenge some day, only I thought he would go the way of Hoffa.Surely the whole story will come out in due time.

RedScare
Trevino was indicted. Do you prefer that our elected criminals be allowed to commit their crimes in peace, without harrassment from reporters? The indictments vindicated Dolcefino. totheskies
Yeah, I'm still really uncomfortable with how this went down. If the Trevino story was truly why Wayne Dolcefino got fired, then someone needs to tell KTRK that they're not doing their job.
Slick Vik
You have no sympathy for someone losing their job for exposing corruption? He's been butting heads with Disney for a long time, he pushed his limits and got what he deserved. I know Victor Trevino and I know what's going on, he will be vindicated when this is all said and done, it's nothing more than racism and a political witch hunt. Trevino is not a bad guy I've known him for 20 years. The only thing he may be guilty of is bad bookkeeping but he's not a criminal. This is just a way for certain people in power to keep the uppity Mexican Democrat in his place.

Victor got a good attorney, I wish him the best of luck. It's not going to be easy though he has some powerful people that want him out of his post. They couldn't do it by election so this is the next best way I guess. We will see what happens, at this point it's a power struggle and hopefully justice is fair and sorts it all out in a proper manner.

Trevino's been dirty a long time, at least as far back as when I was a reporter. Dolcefino could be abrasive but he was a pretty solid reporter. The pols hate him. I remember when he got nabbed for DUI I was interviewing some county officials up in Humble. They were overjoyed by the news.

He should've taken the misdemeanor deal that he was offered earlier. He had bad bookkeeping and it was a racially motivated case. Or he plead guilty because, as the article you cite suggests, he realized how much evidence there was against him and he knew the jig was up...  Neither side would comment on why Trevino changed his mind after standing before a jury and declaring, "I am not guilty" on Friday, but he may not have realized the extent of the case against him. During opening statements last week, Moore told jurors they would see proof that checks and donations made to the charity seemed to go directly to slot machines in a Louisiana casino, "sometimes the next day."Trevino's attorneys had tried unsuccessfully to keep out testimony from Trevino's bookkeeper, who was granted immunity from prosecution. She has admitted she forged a signature on more than 100 checks. She likely was going to tell jurors that she was directed by Trevino to sign the checks.I didn't see any mention of the racial makeup of the jury. Is that just hyperbole on your part or do you personally know all the jurors and their backgrounds? I read a bunch of articles during that era for the ill-fated monorail/people mover plan Whitmire wanted (and no, the people didn't vote on that plan specifically), and while Turner and Lanier beat Whitmire handily, Turner still lost. JLWM8609
Dolcefino wasn't alone in shooting down Turner's 1991 mayoral bid. He got his information from Clyde Wilson, a legendary private investigator who was old friends with Lanier. Wilson tipped KTRK on the story, but a member of Lanier's finance-team, Peary Perry, another private investigator, was the one who came up with the detailed information about Turner. IronTiger
Say something useful or say nothing Good advice, you should listen to it sometime. Point is, there's significant evidence that Trevino is guilty, and you think he's being set up just because there happens to be white people on a jury.
