Carterb
Here's the animation, from what I was told the client based their decision to move ahead on the project based almost entirely on this video. https://vimeo.com/53367296
swtsig
looks a lot like EC3... nice video.
bachanon
it looks like the only possible retail space is at the waterway level, or at street level above facing the waterway. the parking garage doesn't appear to have any retail space on woodloch forest or waterway avenue, like the parking garages do at 24 waterway, 1501 lake robbins, the marriott garage. is it possible that the land is too valuable or the need for office space too urgent to save space for retail? Urbannizer
This is interesting, I'm guessing the other blue towers are being planned as well? http://har3.commgate.com/photos/pdf/fs/219456_1.pdf
lockmat
Whoa, nice!! If those are to scale they are huge and traffic is going to absolutely horrible!

strickn
Those massing models you like were taken from Pickard Chilton's master plan.
wxman
Wow, if that scaling is correct, that tall blue building is pushing 40 stories or more. Was this perhaps an old 'Shell' proposal? On a side note, it appears that there is a new anchor department store south of Dillards. It seems like I remember this being proposed years ago. Is that still in the works? Edited September 11, 2013 by wxman
swtsig
that was the 45+ story tower i referred to back in sept. of last year.
wxman
that was the 45+ story tower i referred to back in sept. of last year. What were the details on that...or did you have any?
swtsig
didn't have any... there is one possible user i am aware of who is supposedly kicking tires on a very large office in the woodlands and 45 stories would match the sq ft i've heard tossed around but beyond a couple sources echoing what i've heard i have no other info. they've had that large placeholder there since way before i heard this rumor though so i won't jump to connect to the two.

Urbannizer
Yeah I prefer Boka Powell's design for the building. Most of Kirksey's work is really boring to me. Edited November 16, 2013 by Urbannizer
wxman
Wow! That would be one of the most architecturally inspiring buildings in all of Houston if built like that. Totes awesome..
swtsig
def a much more interesting design but in all honesty one that is really too bold for the woodlands imo. i'd love to see a design like that go up in uptown, though.
lockmat
This was on the latest agenda, looks like it should break ground soon
toxtethogrady
There's a big splashy ad in today's HBJ for this property. Now 17 stories and 430,000 sf. The incredible shrinking office building.
bachanon
is it the same design only shorter?
Urbannizer
They found a way to make the building even more bland.
H-Town Man
If it doesn't work out, I'm sure there's some place on 290 that this design would fit in perfectly.

wxman
How old do you think these renderings could be? This looks pretty slick if true! http://www.bokapowell.com/project/10-waterway/
Urbannizer
Boka Powell's design did not make the cut; Kirksey was chosen as the architect. The project is not moving forward anytime soon so a new look may be proposed when it comes back to life.
Urbannizer
http://www.kirksey.com/portfolio/projects/10-waterway Kirksey was selected to design a 500,000 sf Class A office building in the The Woodlands Town Center. Designed to meet LEED Silver Certification, the project boasts high quality lobby finishes and rich exterior construction. The office tower will feature two base levels of retail and restaurant space along the south side of The Waterway and an attached 1,500+ car parking garage partially under the office tower. At the request of the client, the tower is designed to both respect and relate to the context of the surrounding buildings. With a unique and distinctive design, the tower is intended to be a focal point for The Woodlands Town Center.

cloud713
I saw a big model depicting the tower and surrounding buildings in an architects office last week and was wondering if the project was moving forward. I don't remember what the height was originally supposed to be, but it was a decent bit taller than everything around it. Could be the 3rd tallest building in The Woodlands?
