kylejack
Take them to Kinko's and pay a pretty penny for the employees to scan them in, or run an ad on Craigslist offering to pay a lesser amount to get them all scanned.
Fringe
I had a whole bunch of old slides I sent to this online company to digitally convert. They came out great. http://www.gophoto.com/photo-scanning-service/?ref=affThey do prints as well. There's other online companies that do the same. It was expensive but well worth it. A lot of great memories that now digitalized will last forever.
bachanon
i bought a photo scanner today. it seems a photo specific scanner is better than a combo document/photo scanner. i may have to scan some to get going and pay a company like gophoto for the rest. marmer
Several hundred? Really? I did almost exactly that a few years ago, for a 60th anniversary presentation DVD. I didn't find it so horrible doing four to six at a time, but maybe I had more time than you do with the party coming up so soon. I also had to crop, color correct, sharpen, and enhance most of them, too. If you're really in a time bind, you probably should take them to a service.I don't mean to presume, but could you maybe choose a hundred of the very best images and show each one a little longer?
