I was forwarded this exam and thought it was interesting. Just thought it'd be fun to post and see how HAIFers do.

Full Civic Literacy Exam (from our 2008 survey)

Are you more knowledgeable than the average citizen? The average score for all 2,508 Americans taking the following test was 49%; college educators scored 55%. Can you do better? Questions were drawn from past ISI surveys, as well as other nationally recognized exams.

No, those who score badly simply do not post their score. I certainly wasn't going to if I had not scored in the 90s.

It's a private vote. Only editor would know, muahaha haha

Says a lot about our citizens government knowledge if the average is only 49%. I scored 75.76% and I consider myself an idiot when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Thanks for posting this, lockmat. It was a lot of fun.

Did anyone else check out the 'additional findings' page that came after and claims that elected officials score lower than other citizens, on average?

Here's the link: http://www.americancivicliteracy.org/2008/additional_finding.html.

On only three questions was the average score for an elected official higher than for everyone else.

I was also appalled that so few (in general) got #19 right.
