WillowBend56 Posted December 26, 2011 Share Posted December 26, 2011 Long about 1958-59, my father packed us into the family car and took us out to the Ship Channel somewhere to tour this World War 2-era submarine:http://www.navsource.org/archives/08/08265a.htmI never knew much about it until I did some research online recently. It turns out it was in Houston as a Naval Reserve training submarine. My father, a WW II amphibious naval forces vet, was in the reserves so that's probably how he knew about this open house tour. NenaE Posted December 27, 2011 Share Posted December 27, 2011 My father was like yours, Willowbend56...He showed us kids a submarine that was docked at Brady's Island at Harrisburg, Texas. Earlydays Posted January 12, 2012 Share Posted January 12, 2012 From the "The American Dictionary of Naval fighting Ships" (http://www.hazegray.org/danfs/submar/ss265.txt)the Peto (SS265) was sold for scrap in 1960....the "dictionary" is very interesting, it has the complete war record of the submarine.
