Dakota79
HBJ takes a tour of the Marriott Marquis http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2015/09/go-inside-the-unfinished-marriott-marquis.html Wow! Thanks for the photos. And I'm glad the Hilton is getting some competition. They played hardball with a nonprofit event last year (as they could) and now we will have more choices.
Sunstar
Almost seems a shame that the great view from the pool area will be blocked once the development on block 98 eventually goes up.

HoustonIsHome
We may not have gotten a super tall or a very unique tower this boom cycle, but we did get a couple of towers that make a big impact on our skyline (as this does), we got a lot of residential and hotel rooms which will change the feel immensely, and we got rid of a lot of surface lots.

EllenOlenska
We do have lots and lots of land, and prohibitive land features warrants more creativity--and height. But I'm ecstatic about the Northeast quadrant of downtown--southeast of Main, northeast of the Park.

With Houston Downtown being roughly a mile x mile (a little less, I think, actually), when much the stuff on the books gets (hopefully) built, we might be something like 9,000-ish. That would be great!

Popular Post hindesky
With this one coming down it will be only 15 tower cranes left.   From the Korea Fest @ Disco Green      I think I saw cspwal taking the same pic while I took this.   Balfour Beatty guy on the left told me the counter jib was the heaviest lift during the tower crane demo @ 17,000 lbs. The western tower crane will take the other tower crane down completely, saving lots of money on crane rentals.

Popular Post CREguy13
Looking from this vantage really makes me envision how the bayou/waterfront will look in the next 10 years. I really believe that the next building cycle will bring a lot of highrise housing along this stretch - especially with Buffalo Bayou Partnership's plan to develop it from Sabine Street moving east.
